Sadly I canceled my allocated order for the Altitude and got my deposit back. Once the specs came through I realised that I couldn’t tow our 2.8 T van. After calculating our weights with no aftermarket extras we were over the payload. Toyota said a GVM Upgrade could effect the warranty. To much money not to have peace of mind. Ordered the Ford Everest Tremor with all the off road extras, 100kg more payload, more power, all covered by warranty. And happily 20,000 cheaper 😊

Have just returned from six months travelling around Aus in our new gen Everest Sport towing a 2.5t dual axle pop top. It was an absolute beast with zero problems and returned 15lt/100. Had a Prado (which was a great car) before the Everest and the Everest beats it hands down. Enjoy the Tremor.

150 owner here. I had a 250 GXL on order, but cancelled as soon as I saw the ridiculous boot layout in person. It is truly dreadful as you lose so much space and the lip is stupidly high. I wouldn’t even be able to open my car fridge in situ. Why doesn’t Toyota release a 5 seat version of the GXL? Not everyone needs 7 seats. I was not prepared to fork out the extra $13k for the 5 seat Altitude and the GX misses a lot of important kit.

Yet another very polite review which doesn't really reflect sentiment in the comments sections. It hasn't been pointed out anywhere, but there is a label on the cover of the hybrid battery, in the boot, which says the board could break if if more than 60kg of objects is placed on it. Unbelievable - these vehicles are supposed to be work horses, used for camping or transporting heaving items, and how Toyota limits weight of items in the boot to 60kg!

i had a test ride, it rides like a city SUV, but the practicalty is missing. The middle seats dont move, theres no storage with 7 seats. i'll keep my 150 coz i'm not buying it for a 12 inch screen only, which costs another 10K

The fact that the majority of the Prado customer base are families and with the 7 seat layout that Toyota Australia thought would be okay to release it with is completely ridiculous. Toyota Australia need to do better and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Prado comes out with a refreshed model much sooner than expected.
@meredith18352Ай бұрын
Yes, lets completely compromise the boot space for a vehicle you wouldn't want to put 7 people in anyway! What the heck? My 4 year old 150 series GXL with leather interior was only $65K and still has less than 130K on the odometer, I think I might keep it for a while longer. I honestly can't believe that this one is even SLOWER than what I have and I kind of appreciate the 1500 plus kms i get out of my 150L fuel tank.

I ordered a 250 series GXL and sold my 150 series VX in readiness for the arrival of the new model. Based on what I am seeing and reading I am now sorry I did as I don’t think I’ll be going forward with my order as there appears to be a lot of negativity especially of what has happened with the boot space. Also the new price increase on all models of around $10000 puts a GXL out of range for me. I did entertain the idea of a 5 seat GX but with the lack of features cloth trim and polyurethane steering wheel to name a few I think I will pass.

No doubt dealers will say you can exceed it, but also, no doubt, if you exceed it and do damage to what is below, your warranty will not cover it. Annyoying.

What is in the air down under? All this whining from people who've been lapping up the toyota recipe since time immemorial. 1) toyota is a value not luxury brand. Expect intentionally underpowered simple powertrains, cheap hardwearing components like interior plastics and outdated technology. They are the kings of constraint for the sake of reliability and longevity. 2) Its 2024 everything is overpriced, who are they not to appropriately position their pricing according to the market. Yes there is a premium for that badge but it's not the end of the world. 3) Your country is seriously regulated, a blessing and a curse. That battery has to be there for the mild hybrid technology (if we can even call it that) as well as the swarm of safety features to pass regulation now and far into the future. Unfortunately this ramps up weight, pricing and complexity. Maybe just continue to buy Toyotas in astounding numbers quietly, find aftermarket solutions for the boot as you've always done with all other toyota shortcomings. They are still as reliable as ever, dont kid yourselves. Once they sort out a few teething problems as expected they'll run forever. If they can endure Africa's potholed roads with dirty fuel, cheap knockoff parts, minimal service all while overloaded 2 to 3 times if not more what they are rated at and still outperform most things on the road they'll be more than manageable in Australia.
@rickb314Ай бұрын
And that's the thing, you never buy the first model of a new car! There'll always be teething problems, they'll fix things and add things based on customer feedback... you always wait for the mid-life update! Early adopters will pay the price!
