Hey I’m about to do this on my Prius. That line up funneled it into leads to the side I guess that line is coming out from the bottom of the radiator? I have a 2010 Prius. Loosing coolant and the cold start rattle

Thanks for the review man, I have Prius 2011 got same problem after 320 thousand miles! I used CRC product and guess what? No more problems but I had to replace the water pump after that

Hi, I have a blown head gasket on a 2013 Prius. A guy at Autozone sold me Blue Devil sealant and said most mechanics use it. How did you funnel it into the engine? You didn't show that part in your video. I've seen vids where they poured it directly into the coolant reservoir. Will doing so damage the engine?
@JamesKeele-w6d5 ай бұрын

Do I have to drain the coolant before putting the Blue devil in? Or can I just uncouple that hose and pour it in?
@andrew4real2 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to drain completely but you just don’t want the blue devil in the reservoir. But also keep in mind if your water pump has not been replaced and has gone out this repair may not work
@MPDano Жыл бұрын
There are a couple size bottles of Blue Devil. Did you use the smaller one? I think it's 16 ounces versus 32. Disregard, was able to freeze the video to see you used a 16 oz bottle.

I wish you the best. I did the head gasket on mine to not worry about it lol. I think my water pump failing at 230k caused this issue at 251k.
@andrew4real2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It sucks toyota never put a temp gauge in the car so there really isn’t a way to know if the water pump is starting to fail until the head gasket goes out. But changing out the water pump should be a recommended service after so many miles.
@Megacatares2 жыл бұрын
@@andrew4real yea lol - mine went into limp mode on the highway while i was taking my friend to buy a porsche. I was bragging how reliable a prius was then it went to limp mode. I cleared the code and kept driving to get him to the destination hahahaha. It probably was the failing water pump that caused the head gasket to fail, I also hear it's just all of the heat cycles these engines go through whatever. I hope it works for forever haha.

Hello, I’m trying to use blue devil (BD) too on my 2012 Lexus CT200h (which is basically a Prius). I’m struggling to find the right hose to pour it in. If you don’t mind, I have a few questions. When you poured BD into that hose, did you follow the instructions exactly? While poring, did you have the car turned on and were there any spills? My concern is, that i put BD through the hose, with the car on and ill have coolant spraying everywhere. Thanks
@andrew4real2 жыл бұрын
hey so the way i added the blue devil is right after replacing the water pump and the cooling system is empty you want to pour the entire bottle directly into the engine first or radiator but not in the reservoir. You add it while the engine is not running. then after, fill the cooling system completely and then proceed to turn the car on in service mode. Let the car idle without revving it with the heater full blast for 50 minutes. once its done you can turn the car off and job done. you can make sure the reservoir is full or top it off but only after the car has cooled down.

@@andrew4real good video thanks for the info bro. I was wondering the same thing about adding the BD. My understanding is that the engine should be running while you're adding it not when it's turned off. I assume you have to drain out some of the fluid before adding the BD. Now I'm concerned about adding this blue devil to the hose you indicated with it disconnected from the radiator now I'm wondering if fluid is going to be pouring out of the radiator

Blue devil will temporarily seal small gasket leaks but it clogs up your coolant passages in the head. Once you finally replace the head gasket, you have to clean all that crap out and it sucks! Don’t do it.
@1southernitalian Жыл бұрын
I strongly recommend not replacing head gasket and replace motor. Not worth it
@willyfromthehillies Жыл бұрын
Disagree fully. I've done this a few times. When you get the head off, you obviously need to at least put a straight edge on it to check for warpage and if you have time, take to the machine shop to have it checked out. Both times I did this on gen 3 priuses, the head was fine. You can do this job in one day. Parts are about $600 to $700 depending on what deals you can find. Only genuine toyota gaskets and just buy the Aisin pump which is the same as toyota brand. It's definitely not easier or cheaper to swap the engine than it is to change the head gasket. Also a salvage yard engine will also need a new head gasket unless you are a gambling man!@@1southernitalian
