It's great to see Edd China back on the scene. This is a fair review. I am seriously considering buying a van rather than an SUV.

I used to own a Renault Kangoo EV. But back in 2014 the range was far less. Other than that it was one of the best all-round practical vehicles I have owned. Especially, when it came to running costs & servicing. So I totally agree with this review. A 10 year warranty goes to prove where we are now with electric vehicles.
@MrArchisat2 жыл бұрын
I ordered this Proace city electric, here in Italy it comes with the analog cockpit even if in the videos you can also see the digital one, as for peugeot citroen and fiat, but the seller says that due to the lack of the chipset microprocessors. for a van that costs me 31,000 euros I find it ridiculous, what do you think, even that of this test drive is analog.

260 miles? Real world 230? Assuming no heating / lights etc . How long does it take to charge ? The range is not good enough for a commercial vehicle which have high mileages . Only good for city driving . Not sure what we’re going to do in 8 years time without diesel power . Also what happens to all the dead vans/ batteries after 10 years when they have no range left. It seems like we are walking into another environmental dilemma. Thanks Ed , good video .
@joa85932 жыл бұрын
These are delivery vans. Often in cities a delivery driver will go no more than 50-100 miles for a full day of work because they stop so often (which is good, since with climate control and heavily loaded this van will probably only get a little more than 100 miles of range). It's perhaps the only fleet vehicle where battery really makes sense, you can tell vegetarian Toyota is in on it as opposed to the hydrogen fleet vehicles they're working on for long haul work.

Thanks Edd for the review, It was very nicely done. I have ordered a new proace city electric and it will be here around November. The question i have is.. is the height of the van really 1880mm that the toyota site say? . I see other people reviewing this van and they are still taller than the roof of the van. I know that you are 6’ 7 “ so you would tower above it, all i can think is everyone that previews the van must also be over 6’ 1” of the van. Thanks

Since the BZ4X isn't in production yet and this has been for a while already doesn't this mean Toyota's first EV in Europe is a van? Funny

While EV is desirable, it's only thanks to the PSA. The fact that Toyota isn't pressed to offer any hybrid commercial van is more than disappointing. It's the compliance of EU fleet emissions regulations and incentives/tax write offs for diesel, but a 20 year old hybrid tech for commercials can really be beneficial for small businesses and trade. I found that a second hand Prius can do a surprisingly better job than a 5 door Freelander van in lugging around bulky items cross country, and still getting 55 mpg. The only problem is the soft springs and its low weight capability.

@@1701_FyldeFlyer much of WSDs content seemed to come from over the time since Ed left Wheeler Dealers (just look at his ever changing hair length in some episodes). I can only guess they need time and paying sponsors to get new content rolling before getting the show going again. it can't be cheap doing that show, especially post-lockdown with the production crew in high demand. fingers crossed WSD will be back VERY soon.

Too pricey, as a Painter & Decorator I need a van but this one is way out of the budget.
@doyle201206 Жыл бұрын
The maths still doesn’t work out. If you take the price difference iver a similar equipped diesel it’s about £13k. You would have to work 5 days a week and fully discharge the battery each time to get the value of diesel back of the £13k. This doesn’t include any electricity charges. By now you have a van with 95000 miles and 3-4 years old. It won’t be able to get a full 100% charge and it’s value is nothing. As an economical and practical viable option it just doesn’t add up.

@drxym10 ай бұрын
Always makes me laugh how you think you're buying a car/van by one brand and for all you know it was made by somebody else entirely. Seems more prevalent for vans, where a Mercedes van might come off a Renault assembly line. In this case it's extra funny since Toyota are notoriously anti-EV and incompetent at making them, and so they go begging to Stellantis to make something with their name on.
