We look at how a 2010 Toyota Rav 4 handles in about 7" of snow.

Last year when it snowed, the heater stopped working in my Jeep so we had to drive my dad‘s 2014 RAV4 XLE. I was worried we would get stuck and boy was I wrong! I had no idea how capable these things were. We got around with no problems at all 👍

I would have bought a 2004-really liked them but they all had a TON on miles on them. This one had 80,000 on it and the price was right and they are REALLY REALLY NICE. I have a '09 Honda CRV that has been bullet proof, I hope this will be the same. I almost bought a 2011 honda CRV-but got this instead. Right now there is a O2 sensor that has come on twice and then went off about 75 miles later-scanned it. $100-relatively easy to get to-when it stays on I will replace it. And with the 2010 Rav 4 there were no 'piston ring' issues or head bolt issues that plagued the 2008 and some 2009 toy rav4. Seems even toyota is using many questionable suppliers whos parts turn out to be garbage. Please for the love of everything that is holy--be careful when buying any vehicle----do a ton of research or you maybe the one putting a $4,000 engine in......Sad. Thank you for watching.

Watching this makes me really want a 4x4. I got a 04 colorado and it's just 2wd. On a hill leaving school in the snow I couldn't get up whatsoever, I waited for everyone to leave and watch them go around me then I backed up and floored it and luckily it got me up😂. Nice video though, I think I know what car Ima get next.

In my opinion I would get a honda CRV we have an '09 along with this 2010 rav 4. Hondas ride better and are solid-not saying anything bad about the Rav4, but it rides like a truck.The hondas interior is of much much better quality. Also a 2 wheel drive CRV.Rav4 would be an excellent choice and much cheaper, unless you are getting stuck with other front wheel drive cars. . Do your research on what year you are buying as there have been problems with oil burning and transmissions on both honda/toyotas. Very nice-every year I jack it with a wire brush and rust inhibiting paint to keep the underside from rusting out. I also use oil based black enamel-seems to work good.

I drive a 2004 Jeep Libery, 4x4, 5600lb. It eats snow for the most part, but it's not going to last forever so I'm trying to figure out how well the RAV4s handle snow. We get lots of snow in my part of Canada so I'm not playing around with a sedan. Thank for the video!

A rav4 or a CRV are good choices-we have a 2009 CRV (video in the snow kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZ23qIWrnZ6Gn6c )and the build/ride quality are much better than this 2010 rav4. Keep in mind the tires are all season radials-if you put snow tires on the handling would be much much better. ALSO Look at Subaru they have a much better all wheel drive system than both the Rav4 and CRV-but head gasket issues (don't know what years though). Thanks for watching

Rav 4s are good. As long as you don’t get stuck because there is no low range and the split is only fr 50/50 tires as always will make a huge difference. I would say coming from a Jeep you will probably want snow tires for sure.

What kinda tired you have? In Denver they often never treat or plow properly. I would suggest the crossclimate 2 or some studded if you really need them, turn off track control and lock differential. Then don’t go pass 20 mph and you’re set. It’s all the dumb drivers that wanna go 50 on a snow storm that end up getting into accidents.

these old rav4s are 4wd! and some have the v6! some japan made too! new ones are awd, and have all 4cyl engines, which are still good! Some new trim are japan made as well! limiteds are, hybrid too.

Think we have to define what (how hard) off roading you plan to do. Nice 2 tracks with little in the way of rocks/water-sure. If it gets 'real' I don't think this is the machine for that.

Ahhh I have a 2011 rav4 v6 our roads here are hardly touched lot of times we have to drive through 2 feet of snow for 1/4 to get to a plowed road never gets stuck. Next time turn off your traction control yours I could hear kept kicking in robs power and gets you stuck and turn on the 4x4 push the button in and dont go more then 40km it will go through anything once you do that.

I have tried all configurations it just isn't that good of an off road/snow vehicle-alot to do with the tires too, they are not aggressive at all-run of the mill radials. thanks for watching

I have a 2012 Toyota Rav4 V6 AWD with top quality winter tires, and almost no spinning at all in deep snow. From watching the video I was almost certain you were not using winter tires.
