This is my 2010 toyota rav 4 with the v6 motor. I have never taken it off road before and wanted to see how it would do at a local trail of mine. like and subscribe for more videos!

Rav4s are very impressive. They hold their own. Add a 1.5 lift kit & 235/70/17 size ATs and I think it can handle a bit more difficult trails. Keep these vids coming! Ps, I've been curious how a 3rd gen Rav4 will do on Imogene Pass lol

I am from Montreal and I was looking for a rav4 because it can handle our run down streets that are comparable to this trail.

Wow, I was sure you were above Grand Junction in the McInnis Canyons area; looks absolutely identical! (it is, geologically) I've had my stock '98 CRV and '07 Ridgeline up there with no problems. Nice to see the RAV4 doing well in similar terrain as I may be buying one soon. Nice vid, thanks!

My 2009 RAV4 is still strong after many times off-road and carrying heavy load of bricks. I wanna upgarde since it's too simple interior, but it ran and run. you know your car only when you push it to the limit.

In the later clip when you said you have to be in Low with the Diff lock, you don’t need to. Just put it in 4WD and let the Rav decide what is best. I’ve driven our Rav this way on our farm over that type of terrain and it does just fine.
@albertcampos9598 ай бұрын
There is now Low range on this vehicle since it's All wheel drive not 4WD. 4WD vehicles have a transfer case with low low gearing. The only thing you csn do with this car is engage the center locking dif, which essentially splits power 50/50 front rear, vs most AWD systems that have a front bias.
@Doc18558 ай бұрын
@@albertcampos959 Strange. My Rav was a 11. It was front biased but I had to manually put it into 4WD.

We have a 11 Rav 4WD Limited with a 3.5 V6. I baby my car. For going off road I / we take our 4X4 pickup. I’m glad to see what my Rav will do, but it has to last as long as it can. I can’t find another small SUV with a V6
@MrRensan404 Жыл бұрын
I have a RAV4 V6 with 200K miles on it. Still going strong with no major issues. A really good vehicle. Great to know that it can go off road even with no ladder type steel underpinnings.
@Doc1855 Жыл бұрын
@@MrRensan404 The 3.5 V6 is now the standard V6 for Toyota / Lexus across the board with the exception of the 4.0 in the 4Runner. The new Tundra has the twin turbo 3.5 V6. My mother has the 3.5 V6 in her Lexus. They’re a very durable proven engine. A friend of mine just hit 300K on his V6 Rav, but it’s now burning a quart of oil between changes, but it still runs good so he keeps driving it as his daily driver. I’ve only got 104K on mine. Since I retired I only drive 5-6K miles a year. I’m in my mid 50s and plan on driving my Rav until I turn 70. I think I’ll spoil myself and buy a mid sized Lexus SUV hybrid and my wife will be driving it after I’m dead and gone.

When we bought this one the radio didnt work all the time so we replaced it but I think that was just ours but I do know that these have soy coated wires and the mice can chew them but as far as engine and transmission I have heard nothing bad! She also has some get up and go power and I will be adding a tow package to pull my boat and trailer.

Our front shock towers went bad fairly quickly, and sometimes I question the transmission shifting. But ours turn 200k soon and I'm digging it so far 😀

@@drewschumann1 my struts are still going strong at 140k miles. I keep expecting my mechanic to tell me they are toast... but no leaks yet and they still feel good. This is the most reliable car I've ever owned. I too have wondered about the shifts at times, but it keeps powering along

I was hoping for some articulation to see that "center diff lock" work. I'm pretty sure there is no center diff. Just a front biased AWD system with a clutch.
@midenginemadness27142 жыл бұрын
I went out yesterday and had the front left and the back right off the ground and I couldn’t move out of a ditch with the lock on and needed a lot of momentum to get out. Hope that helps

your correct, it's front biased awd, the lock button makes it closer to 50-50 biased with a clutch

Its so dry, a pick up truck, with good tires, locking rear , and more clearance would do just fine. Rav 4 was never meant as an off road vehicle, and yes i own one as a daily driver . I also was in a Jeep club for 10 years, so i know the difference between an off road vehicle and one that is not.
@OGLouisVuittonDon2 жыл бұрын
I like watching people push the boundaries of their vehicles. I’ll agree on the Rav4 not being meant for off-roading, but Toyota did design the vehicle with soft roading in mind.
