Thank you Thank you Thank you! My gear shift cable broke a very long way from any mechanic. I haven't done any car repairs in over 10 years, but followed your instructions to remove the console and it went very smoothly. I can now replace the plastic bushing and will my transmission will work again. Excellent instructions, especially happy I did not need special tools to pry off the trim.

Thank you for the video. I would add advice; 1- how to diagnose handbrake issues if both or one side is defective. 2- to buy spring set, brake cleaner, 4x 6mm metric screw, and couple of cylinder braket assembly screws.

The best way to trace the wire is to start at the base of parking brake handle. It is connected to a switch & the wire color looks to be black(it is covered in protective sheath - also black, but I was able to lift enough of the sheath to see what color)

You could also disconnect the battery if you desire. Also avoid dropping or hitting that part even though the car is off.. You can never be too careful.

What’s would be the appropriate cost of a parking break cable such as this model? Any guess?

I paid $80 for both the left and right parking cable.

I cannot be for certain as my repair manual (2006-2012) does not indicate a different instruction for cable replacement in a manual transmission engines.

Hi how do you detach the parking cable from the lever?

At the base of the lever, remove the double nut on a threaded rod (if you follow that threaded rod it will lead to the equalizer cable (different part#) then to the parking brake cable) Sorry, I failed to take a vid of that part.

@@thegh0sst950 ah, then you may have experienced a cable that got siezed into its sheath. And the only way to detach the cable from the brake shoe lever is to cut the cable (after you have a replacement on hand).
