Is there a way to manually apply or disengage the parking brake? My 2023 Rav4 automatically applies the parking brake when you put into drive. Nice feature, but I need to put my rav on ramps to drain the oil and then roll it off the ramps to put in the new oil. Does it need to be elevated on a flat surface?

Yes there is, while you are in park with the parking brake on. Press the parking brake button down and continue to hold until you get a message on the dash that says “EPB shift interlock function deactivated” Now when you shift into park it will no longer apply the parking brake.

Second part of your question. You can add oil to the engine while it is elevated. But you want to check the oil on a level surface.

You don’t have to drain the oil to replace just the filter. But I wouldn’t suggest you only replace the filter.

Hello again, I need your expertise once again, I bought my 2016 BMW X1 and like a dummy I didn't check at the dealership and she just said everything was in the car. I now find each wheel has a lock nut on it, and nothing in car to take it off. I searched ebay and found 1, they had a car checker to make sure it would fit, showed two different sizes a 20T and a 17T, the checker said the 20T would definitely fit my car, well of course it does not, the teeth are the same size as the outer diameter, Do you know if the 17T would fit? ebay is only place I can find any wheel lock removers without buying new set of lug nuts that come with one. I don't want to buy another for $15 wait 3 weeks and it not fit again, As before thank you for any help.

Was this purchased at a BMW dealership? If so you can ask them for a new key to be able to remove your wheels. If they said it was in the car and it clearly was not I don’t see why they would not want to lend their assistance to give you a key for the wheel locks. At my bmw center we don’t sell the cars without a key for the wheel locks. And if we can’t get the key we remove the old locks. All of this at no cost to the customer. The BMW center has a master set of wheel lock keys to remove the one you have. I would start here instead of hunting aftermarket products that may damage the wheel lock. If it becomes damaged they may charge you at that point to remove it.

@@friendlymechanic9778 car was at a Ford dealership, I asked the girl that sold me the car and it being used, very low miles 27k, said didn't get anything else with the car, so you know how that goes. I'll have to order another and if can ever get these lug nuts and locks off just gonna change the whole set. If you take the car to the parts department at a bmw dealership they can assist with matching the lock to the one you have and order the key for you. Thank you I appreciate it!

@@friendlymechanic9778 to finish the saga lol, bmw had no idea what size wheel lock it took, their only solution was to charge me $150 a wheel to drill it out lol, nope, so kept searching and found 2 yt videos where they removed the same wheel lock by pounding on a 21mm 12 teeth deep socket then use a ratchet or breaker bar or something to unscrew it then move on to the next. I am trying to love this car but these little headaches and the $$$ at dealership is putting a damper on it.

I can't believe you used a Metal Screwdriver to remove the oil plug gasket from the oil pan. Using your fingers to remove the gasket won't make scratches.

I promise no oil pans were damaged during the making of this video. This is actually a very common practice in the field to remove stuck drain plug gaskets. It is safe, quick and you won't hurt your fingers. 👍🏼
