Thanks so much for such a thorough video. I needed this!

It’s pretty cool, fortunately we have more than enough space just how she is, I just feel if you need more space and have a bigger family I mean you might as well grab a suburban or mini van at this point. Really cool to know you can take the seat out though.

@@justinsalazar9070 had all the above and never done what needed or wanted for our lifestyle. Unfortunately had to lemon law a number of vehicles or sell quickly due to mfg issues that failed me too many times. Haven’t had any issues with Toyota and knowing them they have pride is getting things right, versus changing for a “mid cycle refresh” to get more sales.. plus none look as good as the Sequoia.

Is there a video like this for removing the 2nd row seats/bench? I'd like to install the Captain's chairs.
@SLOWQUOIA18 күн бұрын
@@brahmabullsmoke short answer, it can be done but haven’t had a need to do it personally. Checking diagrams it’s just 2-4 plastic covers and a few bolts for each bracket. No difference in mounting, just brackets differ in length due to seat type.

Out of Curiosity, could you remove the seats from the metal brackets that were mounted to the floor, then reinstall the metal brackets and put a protective plywood/carpet over the batteries with a more flat/finished look?
@SLOWQUOIA21 күн бұрын
@@chrislane9100 yes you can. Down side is all the unfinished edges on the rails in areas are like razor blades & cut myself a few times.

@@SLOWQUOIA Thanks great video! I did have another question down below ... was planning to start this project tomorrow but ....

Awesome tutorial, and greatly appreciated! One question or point of concern- if the top of the HEV battery module is exposed like that, is it suitable to withstand any type of cargo load? i.e.- when the seats were in place above the module, they supported any/ all weight with no weight being imposed on to the battery module. Not trying to be a nay-sayer at all, just a point of concern/ curiosity. Again, fantastic video!
@SLOWQUOIAАй бұрын
@@shmmebeat concern is always a must and definitely not a nay sayer. In the video I do believe I stated one would want to do this if building a platform of a sort. I’ve built a few of them out of different materials but yea, you want to leave space as to not damage the battery or its airflow to the hybrid cooling system. I spaced the platform 1” off the highest part of the battery. I’ve heard you can also remove the cushions, but not recommended cause the metal doesn’t have finish cuts in areas and can leave you bleeding for a while.

@@SLOWQUOIA So you can't simply cover the back area with a blanket or air mattress and turn the back into a sleeping area for traveling wih the kids / dogs? I was planning to do this job tomorrow! It seems like if you have to build a shelf or something, removing the back seats looks like the easy part.
@SLOWQUOIA23 күн бұрын
@@JulieMoranNE111 unfortunately not, the battery bumps is about 3” high or so.. used a piece of think abs for my first try with a stencil of the area (cardboard template).

Does your Sequoia have power third row seats? Thank you for doing this video. I've wanted to remove my seats for additional capacity, and thanks to you, I will. My dealer told me it shouldn't be done due to sensors.
@SLOWQUOIA4 ай бұрын
Yes it does. Power folds for closing and opening. It also has a second button while in 3rd row to recline a few inches once in the open position. The sensors are essentially just seat belt reminders. Once you unplug it there are no issues or codes.

Did you end up building some sort of platform or just left it the way it sits?
@SLOWQUOIA3 ай бұрын
@@Spiekoloos yup built a platform and storage, 2 storage areas in the base, 1 drawer and upper storage. Recent reel/short I posted has some pictures of it. In the final stages of the sleep system (full flat platform 2nd-3rd rows). I’ll be posting a video when it’s 100% done
