Can’t tell from other videos if you are running the factory skid pan or an aftermarket plate?
@ChasingYourAdventure2 жыл бұрын
Factory skid plate! just the aftermarket bumper. I did have to fabricate a piece of angle onto the back of the bumper for the skid plate to mount up to though
@slim3time2 жыл бұрын
@@ChasingYourAdventure thanks for the insight. I will have to fab something too then. My Sequoia didn’t have the bracket referenced in CO’s assembly instructions. I purchased a Totally Rad Designs skid from CFM industries. Pretty nice for the price IMO, aluminum too.

@@slim3time I might look into getting an aftermarket skid but the stock one does its purpose at the moment since i am not doing anything too crazy in the rig

Thanks buddy. Im a 4runner off-road man but considered the sequoia. My only limitations is its severe off road ability. Been hoping they bring back the 8 cyl 4runner but looks like a twin turbo charger for the 6 gen, im pissed. I wish yota would mirror the off-road capabilities from the off-road version of the 4runner as options on the sequoia. I need a goat trail vehicle for work. Not interested in the tundra as its family unfriendly.
@ChasingYourAdventure3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the off-road capability really isn’t as good as a 4runner but has not let me down yet. If they could upgrade the 4wd system and the traction control system. It would change the game. If he surprised if they ever bring back the v8 4runner even though it’s so good

@@ChasingYourAdventure Lexus GX 470 and now the 460 are essentially a luxe version of a V8 4runner 👍👍
@brownworld260511 ай бұрын
I have a 3rd gen 4Runner. My 2002 sequoia will never be as good offroad as that 4Runner. BUT the new (5th gen) 4Runner is almost the same size as my sequoia. I attribute my 98 4Runner being so capable because of its small size. Now everything Toyota is big and fat. All of the sudden the 1st gen sequoia isn’t looking so big anymore. But the departure angle is definitely it’s biggest drawback.

What’s the suspension setup? Really nice clean build. The roof setup is something I’m struggling with on my sequoia
@ChasingYourAdventure3 жыл бұрын
Suspension was the one thing I forgot to touch on. It’s bilstein 5100s up front set on 3rd rung with dobinson springs and jba adjustable control arms. In the rear it’s long travel bilsteins with dobinson springs. Comes out to 3” and perfectly level with it fully loaded down. A bunch of rake with no load but that will buff

Amazing build, this is almost exactly what I was envisioning building myself. Would you go into a bit more detail on how you traced out the wood to fit the curves? I can’t picture it. Thanks.
@ChasingYourAdventure3 жыл бұрын
Yeah so we took a drafters compass or scribe and put a piece of cardboard down and traced it out on that first. Just laying the cardboard in the floor and then cutting and tearing and cutting more and keep testing until it’s a perfect fit and then use that cardboard template on the plywood and cut with a jig saw. Turned out perfect for me
@davidodysseus28083 жыл бұрын
@@ChasingYourAdventure okay, so wedging the cardboard against side and tracing as best possible and then removing more or adding back as needed?
@ChasingYourAdventure3 жыл бұрын
@@davidodysseus2808 yes but you can't add more back after you take it off just remember that, so if you want it form fitted just cut a little until it fits perfectly and then trace onto plywood
