I replaced a pulley on a 2005 Toyota Avalon with the 2GR-FE V6 engine. Luckily the tensioner was still good and I just replaced the pulley with the bearing. I didn't have to relace the entire assembly and 5 years later it still runs smooth.

THANK YOU! I have a 2011 Sienna that started to sound like that (tensioner squeaking). Last year the shop said my serpentine belt needed replacement and after the replacement it didn't make the noise any more until this winter. It is loudest while cold, but you can still hear it while driving too.

At those prices they should offer a remanufacture program

Decades ago, some cars in the US used to have left handed threads on the wheel lugs. I think it might have been Chrysler products, but I could be wrong. I had a tensioning bearing drying out a bit, so I took it off and soaked some gear oil into it far a few hours. That fixed it so far, since the thick oil got to the ball bearings.

Yes it was Chrysler in the 60’s

How long ago was that?

@@LAactor da, in the 1960’s like I said. We had a 1966 Plymouth Satellite and it had the left hand threads on the left side wheel lugs.

to remove the bolt with less effort with the other hand you should put the 13mm key in an angle under 90degre with the part you are hodind with your hand.

Please stop spinning the bearing while you're speaking. Point is made and it's difficult to hear you :)

Imagine going to someone's work and telling them what to do! This man is giving out excellent free advice and here you are trying to dictate what he should or shouldn't do! He is giving an example of bad tensioner, you can tell by the sound made by the bearings inside the tensioner.

I am curious Peter, why did you recycle the good tensioner, when you could have replaced the wheel, you could have sold it for $200 on Ebay

Good question but I don't think he responds maybe yours will be the first.

Probably no time is his excuse. And it's also difficult to learn how to do it plus the extra tax difficulties on the 1040
