How to manually release/unlock the third row (folding seat/bench) on your Toyota Sienna if the handle is broken.

Important to point out the rear legs need to be released too. They’re easy to do and no tools are needed. If you lay down and look under the seat, you can see them. Squeeze the metal bracket that the cable is attached to and the rears will let loose. Thank you so much for this video. The 60% section of our 3rd row has been stuck for years. Our independent mechanic said, “sorry, you’ll need to go to the dealer.” I’m currently looking at a flat load floor. Next up is to figure out how it works so that I can fix the actual problem, but this’ll do for now.

What if the seats are down in the stowing area and the manual pull handles won’t release the seats so you can get the seats up.

Thank you! This helped us fold our third seat. We have a 2015 Sienna and there’s two mechanisms per leg that we noticed. One that slides in a curve (outside of legs) and a latch inside of the leg (where you showed). It was a two person job to get all legs undone. My husband had to hold and pull the chair up to prevent it relatching while I had to force the curve sliders up on each leg. We noticed if the curve sliding latch stays up then its fully unlocked. That seems to be the manual detachment switch for the 2015.

There are 2 releases under the seat at the back left/right that I had to press up on with my screwdriver to get the rear hinges to release. Back in the box again.

Edit: okay I made a video with KZbin and it lost it, but the two rear anchors of the seat also need to be released. You can do it by hand if you feel around on the inside of the anchors, there's a small lever you just pull up and you'll hear it snap out. Do that and you're good to go! Mine is a 2011 and was different. I'll make a video.

I got those 2 clips on the front of the seat on my 2004 Sienna to release using a screwdriver just like you showed, but the seat will not pull back still. It looks like the the 2 clips on the back of the seat are still holding it down and they are really hard to access. Any suggestions? Thanks you!

Figured it out. Removed plastic cover in back and then it was easy just to pull up to back clips and seat pulled right back!
