Thanks for posting this, just sorted my land cruiser out that was throwing this fault code. disconnected batteries for half an hour, cleaned the connectors and all is now good. Really appreciate you putting this info out there to help us.

Thanks for this video. I bought this exact same vehicle (2006 Sienna LE) in 2019 in Ontario, Canada to take and leave at our summer getaway in Newfoundland so that we wouldn't have to rent a car when we fly in for the roughly two months we spend there every year. Although it didn't show up on the test drive, the flashing airbag warning appeared just a few days before I was scheduled to begin the three day drive across four provinces, and I didn't have time to try to fix it then. Also, my Autel "prosumer" OBD reader doesn't do SRS, and I hadn't got a TechStream setup functional at that point, so I didn't know specifics about the fault. Due to the pandemic I didn't make it to Newfoundland for two years so this year was my first chance to try to solve the fault. In the meantime I picked up a Bosch OBD tool for half-price and unlike the Autel, this one does SRS. When I ran it on the Sienna it listed BOTH the B0111 and B0116 error codes, but after I cleared the SRS codes only the B0116 one came back when I started the van (of course I'll fix both sides anyway). My contact cleaner spray was 1150 miles away back in Ontario and our summer place is about two hours from even a mid-sized town and about 6 hours from St. John's, which might have some available, so instead I soaked 99% IPA into the connectors from a Q-Tip and then connected/disconnected them about six times each. Reconnected the battery and waited... NO SRS warning light!!! A test with the ODB scanner confirmed that the problem is solved, at least for now. I will probably bring a can of contact cleaner with me from Ontario next time I visit Newfoundland, although I expect to be in St. Johns overnight in about two weeks so I will try to find some there. Thanks so much for your very detailed video, especially the clear warnings about disconnecting the battery. Of course, now I have to wait for all the drive cycle tests to run, which could take a long time given how little I drive it here.

Thank you so much for the video. I also read all the comments. I have a 2007 Toyota Sequoia code B1821. Connector wire was twisted. I also blew out any dust in the connector. Moved the pins a small amount. I had 3 mechanics look at this issue. One of them said I need a new seat. Light is now off. Thank you!

I have a BAFX OBDII bluetooth and it did not show the SRS alert when downloaded. It did however allow it to be cleared (but it came back due to it still being an issue). I decided to clean both connectors with contact cleaner and now the SRS warning is gone. Thanks, you saved me an expensive visit to the mechanic.

an update 4/29/22 - so I took a risk upon myself and followed all the steps carefully on your video and found some sort of sticky clear non-smelly residue that almost resembles gel of some sort (not sure what that is) when I unplugged the SRS yellow wiring harness. Cleaned it and put it back in and my blinking SRS light is GONE! Now, I don't have a scanner to clear the code but happy that the annoying blinking light is off... crossing fingers that it does not come back. You helped save me some $$ and for that, I SUBSCRIBED! Thanks again for this very informative video.

The OHM meter has voltage to measure resistance. Thus, if the probes are attached to Squib, the meter will apply enough voltage to ignite and implode the bag. The video is very helpful and presenter is absolutely on the mark !! ejdossary, EE

Cleaning is, IMO, only step 1 of the permanent repair. Step 2 would be to bend the prongs VERY SLIGHTLY APART to create a tighter connection when they are re-inserted. These two steps usually eliminate the need for an entirely new connector.

Good corrective Video. I tried this approach by cleaning the Yellow connector on my 2002 RX300 which fixed the blinking Airbag RH Squib B0113 code. Months later the problem came back. Now I am planning on replacing the YELLOW CONNECTOR, good riddence !!

A few months ago, I removed my 99 Camry drivers seat and of course disconnected the plug(s). I think I had the radio on during this. A few days ago, I was checking out my friend's new OBD2 scanner in my car and noticed I had a B0116 in the history. Do you think this was caused by me removing the seat plug with the key in the accessories position to run the radio? I erased the code, but gave the scanner back, so I cannot see if the code returned. I have no MIL on. Thanks for posting this.... very helpful! BTW.. Thanks to Toyota for giving it the name squib- so no one knows wtf they're talking about- obviously to make life unnecessarily harder.

You can absolutely cause a trouble code by removing any SRS connector. The system doesn't know if the break occurred at the connector or weather a wire has been cut, etc. so you will often get a code any time a yellow connector is disconnected.

I have the same issue but once I checked the connector it turns out that the previous owner cut and connected the wires from the floor harness using butt connectors. Does this mean I need to replace the whole floor wiring harness or should I just try to reconnect them with a crimper tool?

A B1806 on that model is an "Open in Front Passenger Side Squib Circuit". This means the system is seeing an issue (open circuit) with the passenger air bag. You may have to travel further out of your area but I would look around for a mechanic that knows how to troubleshoot Toyota SRS systems.

Pretty much all manufacturers (including Nissan) use yellow for anything that is part of SRS system. Sometimes the connector may not be yellow but the loom over the top of the wiring leading up to the connector will be yellow.

Hi, thanks for a nice informative video. Could this also work for the error code B1826? I get this code on my Avensis 2012 model. Not going to fix it my self, but I am not going to pay the local Toyota Repair shop 900 $ for changing my airbag, if this is a more likely solution to the problem.

That code for Honda means an internal failure of the OPDS (Occupant Position Detection System) Unit, which is located in the passenger seat back. Later models call it ODS (Occupant Detection System) and also include seat weight sensors located in the seat track. There is also an OPDS sensor grid located in the passenger seat back to help detect if a passenger is sitting upright in the seat or leaning (the system does not want to deploy the passenger side airbag located in the side of the seat if someone is in the way due to the design of these older air bags). Whenever the OPDS is replaced or the passenger seat back cushion or cover is replaced, the memory needs to be erased (SRS DTC codes cleared) and then the OPDS unit needs to be *initialized* with a Honda capable scan tool. If the OPDS Unit has already been replaced 3 times, the OPDS Unit is probably not bad. The OPDS *sensor* in the seat back, the wiring or other issue may be the cause of the issue (or the OPDS Unit needs to be cleared and initialized).

Did you have one of these codes, B0100/B0101/B0102/B0103? If so, these is a good chance it is a bad spiral cable (that's what Toyota calls it).

@@BigDog50001 I would have to scan it again but the horn the cruise control and the airbag stopped working at the same time then a few days ago the horn went hay wire and started going off and on when I turned then after 20 miles the horn wouldn't turn off I had to unplug the horn and also heard a popping sound when the steering wheel turns then the sound went away and now my blinkers dont turn off after a turn no more

A B0118 for that vehicle indicates a problem in the circuit for the side air bag on the left side of the car (US driver's side). The SRS module is seeing that the circuit is shorted to battery power (B+) or that there is an issue with the air bag assembly or SRS module. The air bag assembly, the wiring or the SRS module itself could all be the cause. I advise taking it to a shop that knows how to properly troubleshoot SRS problems like this.

A B0130 is a short in the front right side outer seat belt pretensioner circuit. There are small explosive charges in the seat belts that are designed to tighten the seat belts in the event of an accident. The computer is seeing a short circuit during its checks on that circuit. In addition, there are shorting bars inside the connectors that short the circuit when disconnected, as a fail safe. Disclaimer: It is possible to get injured working on these systems and I don't recommend working on them if you have not been trained. It is probably best to take it to someone who knows how to safely troubleshoot these systems.

Took my truck to a mechanic shop and they informed me they turned the steering wheel 15 times to the right and then turned it 13 to the left and my air bag light came on 15 miles after I got my truck back the shop refuses to fix what they did so now I need 1500 dollers to fix it

My 2002 RX300 Airbag light began flashing. Read the code on my scanner and it was B0113, short at B+ RH passenger Squib. When disconnecting the Squib cable, the scanner displayed Code B011 which is open circuit. That indicated the side squib was defective. Researched the simulation resistance is 2.7 go 3.3 ohms. Configuration a load of 3 ohm resistance extinguished my blinking Airbag light. I wonder how long this simulator would work before replacing the bad side Airbag? Please reply if any experienced similar fault andd simulation !

A simulation load is only supposed to be used for diagnosis. After that, the simulation load should be removed and the defective parts should be replaced. Leaving it there disables a critical safety device which I do not recommend.

Those 4Runners should have a passenger air bag (not to be confused with a side air bag). B0131 is an open circuit between the passenger seat belt pretensioner and the Airbag Sensor Assembly (airbag control module). Most likely an issue with the wiring to the seat belt pretensioner or the seat belt pretensioner itself. Not something I recommend working on unless you know SRS systems.
