To me the troopy is the epitome of reliability, practicality, toughness and beauty. From my perspective no vehicle will ever beat this. Every time I look at my 78 pure joy sets in. Nice specimen in the video. Regards from Germany!

@@ili4707 ich habe bei Tom's Fahrzeugtechnik einen neuen GRJ 78 gekauft. Lange von geträumt und letztes Jahr realisiert. Es handelt sich um einen 4.O V6 Benziner mit Euro 6. Somit bekommst du auch die grüne Plakette. Richtig, die V8 Diesel bekommst du hier nicht zugelassen. Die späten HZJ 78 mit 4,2 Diesel gibt es gebraucht auch noch mit Euro 5 und grüner Plakette. Es werden aber nicht oft solche Fahrzeuge angeboten. Neue GRJ78 werden auch bei Extrem Fahrzeuge und Toyota Nestle verkauft. Ich liebe meinen 78er.

Very nice troopy. I used to have a midnight blue one too. It had the 1HD-FTE engine. It didn't quite suit us as a family tourer so, I sold it. Still miss it sometimes.

@@bilal3827 The main issue we found it being a 2 door (not counting the rear barn door). I had the RV, forward facing front seat. Access to the seat was difficult, especially when using a child seat. Hard to reach to secure the seatbelt etc. We looked into getting an extra side door fitted. That would've been at least 11k at the time. Also, the seats aren't very comfortable for long distance traveling. Otherwise, an awesome vehicle. Loved it.

@@bilal3827 I see what you're saying. The troopy is perfectly suited for overland travel for 2 people. It gets trickier when there's 3 or 4. I don't know where you're located, but there's a business in Victoria that fits 3rd doors in troopies, at least they used to. The only type of Landcruiser I would ever want. Keep your 80's, 79's, 200's etc etc I wouldnt mind a troopy. Love the colour too, Ive seen a couple that colour getting around the NSW Central Coast and they look sweet.

Gidday, great video, question on your comment at 18:20. When you say chip, same thing as a tune? The guy that tuned my 2014 Colorado couldn’t solve the turbo lag, but as far as I understand the throttle controllers can solve that problem? But your saying the two can play hell with each other? Any more info on this you can point me towards?

Ronnie, try the well tried and tested Berrima Diesel DP Chip and iDrive which is named PowerNGo and IS designed to compliment the chip. My 3.2L BT50 has been transformed and have had no need to go past 'eco' settings.

@@cyclemoto8744 maybe but obvious defect is as Ronnie mentioned, he cannot get the throttle precision as iDrive etc is not compatible (with whatever chip he has) whereas other well tried tested and proven chips 'are' compatible with throttle controllers.

Nice truck , whether you built it or the previous owner did is totally irrelevant ,almost all modified off road vehicles on you tube are totally or partially built by some one else . seeing how mods are done is always interesting . The square tubes on the bull bars could be used of holding surf rods , so you can fish while you surf .

It is feasible. I have a double bed in mine and still have room on the sides for tables, chairs and clothes bags. Have a look at the "troopysetups" Instagram page, there are some interesting camper setups.

@@cyclemoto8744 Why would the inside of a car be hotter than a tent or swag in summer? Open the windows and if you want to get fancy then put some mesh up to stop the bugs and run a small vent fan to cool down which will also prevent condensation in winter.

@@JeremyPetho don't know what tents you've used but the canvas style tents or swags I use stay cooler than a metal enclosure and they have more air flow. That's why. Cheers. ps: condensation has never been an issue for me, never had any dripping in my face, people who use canvas and complain about dripping due to condensation don't know how to ventilate their tents.

He was smart enough to be able to both afford such a vehicle at a relatively young age as well as astutely buy one with some good mods already on it. Moreover, the video also shows he's well able to drive it.
