Toyota Tundra non-invasive camping/ sleeping platform/ drawer build; fully removable w/FREE template

Version 1 of my DIY non-invasive 2020 Toyota Tundra camping and sleeping platform build. This rig is used as a daily driver around the property as well as for camping and off-roading adventures. Therefore, I cannot have a dedicated vehicle with a limited use setup. This sleeping platform and drawer setup is completely removable, and was built using materials I had in the shop and around the farm. I only paid $42 for a carpet remnant roll from Lowes.

Nice setup. You gave me an idea of getting a Tundra 07-13 with a 6.5 bed. That way I can sleep in the bed more comfortably.

Being 6'2" tall, I would appreciate a longer bed. However, the interior room on my CrewMax more than makes up for the shorter bed. The rear seats have more room than my S class Mercedes. I just sleep diagonally and am fine. Thanks for watching and good luck on any purchase you make.

Do you have a seal between the cab and shell? I want to get a topper for my Crewmax Tundra and use the rear window feature, but haven’t found anything to seal up the gap surrounding the window

I had a thick rubber seal between the cab and topper that was press fitted when the topper was pushed against the cab. It was probably 95+% water tight but still leaked a bit. To help, I added a bead of silicone to the rubber seal and then re-pressed it against the cab. Do an internet search too. When I did, there were a lot of options out there, paid and DIY. Good luck!

Since you’re 6’ tall, is it possible to have your feet stick out of the sliding window and into the cab when camping?

Hadn't thought about that, probably because the window is higher than my mattress and my legs would be at an incline. Thanks for watching and the comment.
