Toyota Tundra Three Year 60,000 Mile Owner Update (MUST WATCH)
Having spent about three years and 60,000 miles with the 2021 Toyota Tundra, I'm going to share my honest experience with this truck and what it’s like to live with day to day. From the performance of the 5.7 liter v8 to its interior comfort and technology offerings, you’ll find out if you should consider buying a Tundra. And if you’re already an owner, you can gain perspective from other owners for more insight on what to expect going forward. Here's an extensive look at my experience with this vehicle.

Sold my 2021 Toyota Limited 2 1/2 years ago. I had bought it new for $49000 and sold it for $57000. I miss my 2021 Tundra Limited and am strongly inclined to buy another one. Love the V8, the comfort, spaciousness and reliability. Searching for one now and ready to buy!

Great review. Ironically I’m almost in the same position as you with my 2021 but I have a Trd pro double cab with 60,000 miles. I absolutely love my truck you talk about getting the dual exhaust it’s one of my most favorite features the sound is absolutely incredible. When you’re towing it is louder no doubt but I only tell maybe once every other month so it’s no big deal for me. I love how this truck is old-school and I can tell you from my cousin who has a 2023 I do not see the value added with nearly $25,000 more in cost with these new tundras to the 2.5 Gen. You hit it right on the nose with the MPG my cousin only averages 17.1 MPG in town while I get 15.5 MPG in town. Screw that.

Thanks for this video. It is very challenging to find an in-depth video about this make and model. I get it is a “generic” truck. But, I am more of build quality over extras type of driver.

I am the original owner of a 2015 Platinium. I factory ordered a 2021 GX 460 in Jan 21, the vehicle arrived in May of the same year. My wife is the original owner of a 2018 RX 350, I thought I could convince the wife in selling the RX..that didnt happen. The GX sat in the garage, since I would perfer to drive the Tundra over the GX. I sold the GX in May of this year, I had a lot of equity in the GX so I didnt loose anything. Now I'm trying to convince myself in buying a 24 Tundra Platinium...lol

Great breakdown. I had an 08 Tundra and moved on to a 2019 F150 Lariat with a ton of bells and whistles. Though the F150 is way more luxurious and comfortable I’m now facing a transmission problem with only 30k miles and having a hard time getting resolved. Now I’m back to looking at 2020 and up Tundras. Just hard to decide between the last generation and the current. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

I would go with the old one. The new ones gas mileage still sucks. The added complexity will probably end up costing you more money than any fuel you will save. That 5.7 V8 is bulletproof. The new tundra has 2 turbos and two intercoolers. Its a lot of extra junk you gotta hope doesn't ever break and to service the turbos they have to pull the entire cab.
@cwqrpportable

What’s the transmission problem?
@darcypadgham7076
@darcypadgham7076 5 ай бұрын
I would go with the old gen as well. A new 4 cyl bi-turbo Tacoma owner just reported that his turbos needed replaced as they were faulty. It was covered under warranty, but the bill was just shy of $18K USD. It will be a lot higher for the Tundra as the cab also has to be removed from the frame and engine in order to access the turbos. That's a lot of money to pay when the turbos fail and it's a matter of when, not if! Especially if it's outside of the warranty.

I’ve owned a lot of Toyotas. I wanted to really love the Tacoma but I’m a fairly big guy and it basically meant nothing could be behind my seat but a small kid (facing forward). Got my tundra sr5 with the upgraded electronics/headlights/fuel tank and trd off road package. I use the 4wd weekly if not more, and the bed is usually carrying any number of things. I like the cloth seats except for when I’m dirty/wet/sandy, but I can buy katskins later on. I personally think it does absolutely everything I need and my only real complaint is that I wish it was the size of my 06 tundra which seemed to be the perfect size. But this v8 and transmission is going to last me a while and the truck has the best track record around.

As far as cars, I've owned Ford, a few Chevy's, Dodge, Chrysler, Mercedes, BMW, and several Hondas. By far the best were the Hondas I bought for the family. Most reliable cars I found out of the bunch and the cheapest and easiest to do maintenance on. All the GM and Ford cars, as well as the BMW had major issues sporadically throughout the time I had them. They were awful. I now have a 2017 Toyota Tundra SR5 with almost 140k miles on it and it runs like it's had no issues. We'll see how well it holds up.

and actually originally was trying to search out a high mileage v6 video too because they’ve out long enough now and because even though I, in theory, want to be a v8 snob, lol, I also rode in the new v6 one with a friend and I hate to say that I did not hate it at all, you know, trying to hold to my v8 snobbery and all😂. Plus also the guy is a family friend of my dad’s and he loves it. But also he does not haul stuff on the regular. So I shall still try to buy one of the used 5.7s.

I’m in the same boat, in the process of buying a new 4Runner but can’t stop fantasizing about a 2021 Tundra. However, after driving a 2023, I am convinced it is worse. Plastic interior not good, transmission not very smooth. Previous experience test driving the old Tundra was that the built quality is crap, everything loose or wobbly or deformed. But not with this one on the dealer lot so…. Hard to decide. Then, don’t forget the leaking cam tower

Sir, I think you’re living in yesterday’s world when you start (at 6:00) to compare the Tundra to other makes. I buy and lease a lot of vehicles for personal use and commercial use. You are dead wrong! Let’s use the new Tundra as an example….. the fit and finish on this truck is awful. I’m cross shopping now between it and an F150 and the new Tundra, in comparison, is a mess with the cheapness, build quality and poor design. To me, the new Tundra comes across as a half baked vehicle that’s not ready for prime time.
