How to fix RUST on your Toyota

I'm up in Wisconsin. The A/C needs to run on defrost to take the moisture out of the air. Otherwise, you can't see out of your windshield due to frost build up: Everyone knows this!

Yes a/c compressor comes on for defrost because it acts as an air dryer which aids in the defrost process. Pretty common among all makes of vehicles.

I had a 2003 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner. I drove it until July 2021. When I put the truck on defroster it would NOT start the AC. I had to press the AC button for that to happen. By the way, I replaced my Tacoma with a used 2008 Nissan Titan this year. Boy, was I surprised when I put it on defroster, and Yes, it turns on the AC.

Every Toyota I’ve owned turns on the A/C with the defroster. Pretty sure every car in the world turns on the A/C with the defroster 😂

This truck has a pro comp 4 inch suspension lift and a 3 inch body lift.. i highly recommend you lift your truck.. let me know if you need links to any lift kits or anything..👍🏼

Whenever I turn my defrost on in my 1997 t100 sr5 the ac button always comes on, tell me if you figure out why?

A lot of modern vehicles turn the AC on when defrost is activated.. but never on any old school 80’s or 90’s Toyota pick ups and 4runners.. apparently they stared with the T100..imma keep investigating this one..👍🏼

I love 97’s, great year.. if there’s so serious issues with the truck.. then it sounds like a good deal to me.. obviously try for $3,000 just to see if they say yes, but i’d jump on it!!

The 2 shift levers need to be extended after the body lift but they also need to be relocated/bent a bit or else they will collide.. Who ever did the body lift on this truck extended the main shift lever but not the 4x4 one.. i really need to stop putting it off and just deal with it..

With the defroster the a/c turns on automatically for my car and I have a 1997 T-100 so i think it’s normal

It’s funny that this issue came up. I just replaced the heater control in my 96 T100. Mine did not have the defrost a/c switch. The heater control that I pulled from a 97 T100 does. My control had the mounting boss for the switch, but none installed. Out of curiosity, I checked the dash wiring and found no harness plug for it. Mine is a 4WD extra cab SR5 5VZ A/T, the donor was a RWD standard cab DX 3RZ A/T. Maybe a model year difference? Other than that, I know not why some would have this feature and others don’t.

I’ve been looking into this a bit and it definitely seems to be very common.. but many people say they snug em down a bit now and then and it doesn’t seem to be a problem.. we’ll see 👍🏼
