A lot of people complain about the horsepower on this car and honestly it’s not as slow as people make it out to be... it has a very great take off speed and drives very nice. Not having the 4WD isn’t bad at all. This is an all around good small SUV it looks tiny but once your inside the space is great! If you haven’t seen or driven the car in person you really can’t complain about it. Also the blue is a very nice touch looks different, futuristic, and amazing

I got a white XLE in February and love it! The blue trim and puddle lamps are the icing on the cake. It is very fun to drive, and I get between 35 and 36 mpg on my 26- mile drive to work!

They have 3zr-fae with k114 cvt. It is 158 hp @ 6200 rpm and 196 lb•ft @ 4400. It doesn't have an egr and so emissions are lowered by holding back throttle response, even while the gas pedal is hitting the floor you still won't have all the horse power. For the record the 3ZR-FAE has VVTI and the throttle body only partly controls the throttle response, the VVTI ecm does so as well by adjusting intake and exhaust pressure. For example, to reduce emissions, after combustion both intake and exhaust valves will open slightly lowering the pressure inside the cylinder, creating a vacuum, this will hold a portion of the exhaust inside the cylinder to be used again in another compression cycle. Lowering emissions and also hampering performance. The only way to have a good experience is to go into the settings menu and switch over to sport mode, if you want the hole 158hp and 196lb•ft of torque switch over to the simulated shift mode and drop down to lower gears. If you drive in normal or eco mode you will get a 0-60 in around 10-11 seconds. Sport/simulated shift mode gets you closer to mid 8 seconds and expect 12-14 mpg.

I owned the XLE in black. I traded it in for the 2021 Highlander. I liked the CHR but its like driving a cockpit, you have no room for anything, even the cup holders are small. It’s perfect for someone who really wants a small small car. I got a lot of compliments on this car though

@@deadstar962you propose got the 1.8 l which does 12 sec from 0-60 lol but the 2.0 dynamic makes 6.9- 7 sec from 0-60 so stop complaining mate. Go day civic sport does 8.8 so the next generation c hr are faster than those civics

I just bought the xle only disappointing think is the feature where the doors lock above 10 MPH is not there and my salesman said all Toyota’s doors auto lock at 10 MPH. I should have checked for myself. These days that is a safety feature against car jacking

I’m pretty late to the game here, but I got a 2020 XLE in Hot Lava. I LOVE MY CAR!! The striking blue interior paired with the orange alone is stunning! I wanted something a little bigger than my Honda fit, and this was the perfect little upgrade with all the safety features I’ve never had before in any car I’ve ever owned. I am def going with the XLE but in the either the Magnetic Gray color or Silver with the black tone around the bottom. I love the wheels on the XLE! I also like that it has remote start, the puddle lights, and sliders on the visors - genius! I don't care whether it has a luggage rack, but it does add to the sporty look. I will be getting the cargo mat as an accessory. Thanks so much for the side-by-side comparison. Very entertaining - kickin' it old skool, lol.

My Corolla XSE has blue stitching and the exterior is gray. It is def more subtle than this so it works. This is wayyyy too tacky how they did it here. My car also has automatic driver's seat controls, moonroof, and heated seats though. Was for less than this.

For anyone who currently owns a CHR, what is your opinion on the CVT transmission? This car looks nice but the main issue holding me back is the transmission because corolla had a recall for their 2019 models.

No issues. Very good cvt unlike the dog Nissan. Toyota has been the cvt game a very long time.

@@moeanthony9308 yes, I know but based in research, there is two different cvt transmission that toyota uses: a gas model vs the ecvt in the prius. The gas cvt has only been around since like 2014. What model year did you buy?

@@minnienartanaid . No recalls. Been just fine. Regardless of which cvt. They have experience in engineering and producing the best. I had a 2014 civic with 150k... Cvt.. when sold. Not an issue. I expect the same with Toyota. Everyone fears for everything. If you are that paranoid buy extended warranty which is nuts. I have a chr xle 2019

why doesnt this thing have the corolla engine with the 168hp? serious fail. does the transmission have the first gear as physical for hard accel? also sick of seeing the tacked on infotainment screen on top of the dash. and the infotainment system should also double as a diagnostic tool showing and explaining trouble codes as well as clearing codes so we dont need mechanics for every little thing. sick of cars being tens of thousands of dollars and not having sensible features and designs. if you want to turn off your oil change light its some circus of procedures instead of just pushing a reset button in the infotainment.

Iam sure Toyota has their reasons. Quite frankly after test driving a Corolla vs chr. The engine for heavier vehicle is quite adequate. Corolla is not as quick as we think at 168. Honda fit is quicker off the line. Regarding these lights you mention. Who cares? Drive the car. Cars are advancing and unfortunately you have no choice but to scroll menus. To me a pop up screen is easier to visually see then integrated. Let's face it, are you not suppose to be driving? You are more worried about lights and resets than getting home everyday? Overthinking will kill you young man

Nice video, Jeff! The C-HR is cute but I think I'd move up to the RAV4. Gets about the same mileage but has the bigger 2.5L engine and 8-speed transmission plus has so much more room. The RAV4 is the perfect size for most but for those who need more of everything including bagpipes then put on your big boy kilt and get the Highlander!

My Mom bought a 2020 CHR and last winter Toyota had a recall on the block heater. They asked people to come in so service can disconnect the block heat. It was -35 C when they told people in Winnipeg to stop using the block heater. Today Toyota has not replaced the block heater and winter is coming. I am done with Toyota and am telling people Toyota has nose dived in quality and are not fixing warranty issues in an appropriate time frame. I will never buy Toyota. Bought a new 2022 Mazda CX 5 GT Sport and I am very happy with it. Toyota is terrible.
