I love your inspection videos. I wish I had done more due diligence before buying my C5. But that's fine as I do enjoy the car. Due to the concerns I believe this'll be a much shorter ownership than I had initially planned. I hope others take the time to do more research into a car before purchasing. The information is out there and if something seems off it is of course better to walk away. 😅😊

I like when you can inspect the car before its detailed so you can really see how it was treated, or in this case neglected. That is not the usual case especially since they knew you were coming to inspect. This is possibly a lazy or just greedy dealer. Good video. Love the shirt!
@John-qz4cv15 күн бұрын
Always take a scan tool when doing inspection you can see if things have been deleted or reset by if the modules are ready and there are some faults that cant be cleared from history with a simple scan tool that most used lots would have unless they are a dealer for the brand car you are buying used then they would have the actual scan tool needed. Its a good way to see if things are being hidden from the purchasing party.

Great video! Helpful for letting people know what to look for and deciding if it is worth pursuing. Also useful during negotiations on the price. One point for looking at a convertible if excessive wind noise can be heard. Might indicate potential water entry when driven in the rain or washing.

Thanks for the video. I know someone who recently purchased a Honda Element and told them to make sure to inspect the undercarriage as there’s a problem rust by the trailing arm and in fact there’s a recall in Canada. Unfortunately they didn’t listen and had to engage an attorney to recoup their money as the vehicle failed inspection as it is completely rotted underneath. I think no matter the brand or area of the country that is a must especially with all the rain that we’re experiencing. Thanks again for the video.

That's a good point, however in Minnesota and I suspect Canada nobody drives Corvettes in the winter because they're downright dangerous. The undersides of every Corvette I've seen here in Minnesota has been very nice! Other cars, not so much 😞

That's weird. I seriously have never seen a C5 or C6 in the snow. I back mine out into the driveway to make room for some sort of a big project on a Saturday, and I could barely get back up with the ice pack road and relatively wide summer tires...

I'd expect a car like that to be fairly detailed,this car was neglected a little bit,someone couldn't afford a proper battery plus there should be zero rust on anything. If I can keep something like that garaged don't buy it. I've seen perfect examples low mileage for 35-40.
@AcewingOFFICIALКүн бұрын
There was no issue with that car besides the scratched headlight (not cracked). For a 10+ year old car that's great. Batteries are easy to replace (which are terrible in C5 and C6s), there's like less than a 1% chance of battery acid leaking down to the ecm and the codes that had issues in the past are voltage codes and that points to a weak battery or the car had to be jumped in the past. Dude tearing this car up like they're selling a ferrari.

The 1st thing that would have put me off from a distance is the non-factory grand sport rims. Those are the early year c6 zo6 wheels that must have been painted black or aftermarket black replicas.

I would never buy a used Corvette from a dealer, I buy from friends or cars I know. Between my buddy his dad and I we own 12 Corvettes so we just trade between ourselves. Most Corvette guys really don’t drive there cars much and they trade up frequently, so mint low milage cars are always available you just have to wait and be ready with the money.
@Toys4Life3 ай бұрын
Generally I agree, but once in awhile you can get a decent price from a dealer on a good car in the Midwest if it's before winter, obviously they don't want to hold it until spring.
@choward8743 ай бұрын
Sounds like that guy found a better car. I wouldn't have bought that car anyway even if the dealer wanted to fix the stuff.

Funny how this weekend as you were doing the video (it's now Monday morning and I just watched the video) I had a Carfax email listing newly posted Corvettes for sale in my area. One of the cars that caught my attention happens to be a 2012 C6 Grand Sport in what is now my favorite color, yellow. My C5 Z06 is Millenium Yellow. Just reading the report and looking at the 27 photos provided it looked to be a very nice GS. With 41,217 miles and asking price of "only" $29,995, $2,875 below Carfax value of $32, 870. Further it is with a "Branded Title" or simply put a Salvage Title Issued. Service history, battery recently replaced at 41,230 miles. Notice a mileage difference here? Damage report states that the right front and undercarriage had been damaged. Insurance wrote it off as a total loss due to the amount $$ of repairs. The GS started in Georigia made it's way to Ohio, then various locations in California and now is in Portland, Oregon. Scanning thru the photos I see a Double Din replacing the Factory unit. And more such as rear tailights have been replaced with after market ones as well what looks to be after market rear exhaust upgrade- if you will. It has the HUD, which I insist on having in my car selection. Your video and what you discussed is the very reason why we, as buyer's, need to be very selective in how we look at purchasing a car, any car. You did a great video piece and I thank you for giving us tools to help us in our car buying search. Am I looking to buy the GS? Only if my lottery numbers come thru giving me the money to insure that I can afford to make any repairs or changes to this car. Otherwise I am very happy with my C5 Z06 and in a week I am taking my wife on a 900 mile roundtrip to attend our 50th HS Class Reunion. I like to say this about Corvettes- Drive. Smile. Wave.

Not a Damn thing wrong with C 5 Z06! Except if you're trying to buy one I think the prices have been holding strong and maybe even dare I say going up???

@@Toys4Life prices are crazy high. This past March when I bought my Z06 the broker said that the owner was asking $28, 950, I offered $25 and we settled on $26,500, which I was ok with that considering all that I was getting with the car like 2 sets of wheels and tires and so much more. That and considering most other C5's, coupe, convertables and Z's ranged from $25k to $32k and even 35k and a few nearly $40k. My Z's dealer windowsticker (Bob's Chevrolet in Daytona Beach, Fl.) states that it was $52,350 in 2003 as it is a 2003 Z06 so prices are still reaching towards that 21 year old price.
