My god he is way bigger than I expected. I have never been big on this set, but it they decide to release more than I would switch scales in an instant. It's just crazy how this not only dwarfs Warbotron, but also makes almost anything smaller than Warbotron look like a Kayaba gum kit...

just got this. the thigh connector to scrapper is tight as hell. i sanded it down abit and lubed it up and it works like a champ now. awesome figure overall, crazy tight joints all over. simply lovin' it.

I had to push scrapper against my concrete wall to fully slide in the connector port. Aside from that it went together well. Visually he does it for me due to his size. I agree with you if Toyworld does any more combiners I'll be in trouble $$$. I hope someone does an alternate head. Thanks for the review.

Looking back at this review and rereading the all hail Megatron series once again, I find that the constructicons and devastator are modeled very closely after the designs in that comic, such as hook and mixmaster's chest design once the clear pieces are taken off, and the designs of the heads especially mimic those designs by guido guidi. Many. complained about the thinness of bonecrusher's head, but to me, it looks extremely similar to the design in all hail Megatron, so I feel that although the combined form of devastator was largely inspired by studio ox, the individual bots took their cues from IDW, which I think is a nice touch. The head afro also seems reminiscent of devastator's head in AHM. Once again, thanks for the great review

I'm shocked that this thing is as solid as it is. Given ToyWorld's history of lackluster combiners I honestly kinda wrote this off in my head and leaned more towards the Generation Toy one, but DAMN is this thing impressive in hand. I'm still holding off from the Devy wars until the dust settles, but this just made the decision a whole lot harder. Also, dunno if somebody pointed this out already but the combined mode actually has double-jointed elbows. The reason for the split in the forearms is that the pieces move to reveal a second hidden joint, kinda similar to the knees.

The first Mixmaster that looks good in his truckmode. If only the Unite Warriors Mixmaster looked like that. Bonecrusher's shovel bit looks a little silly. In combined mode, holy crap i knew he would be big but he is massive. He is bigger than CW/UW Devastator for sure.

I much much prefer partsforming for combiners. So many sacrifices have to be made to make it work at all, let alone work well, otherwise. And damn, this guy's got me thinking. It's the first combiner that can legit stand on a MP shelf and look big enough. I do wonder if Toyworld can make such solid connections with a regular five member team - like Hasbro's, the Constructicons open a lot of opportunities for creativeness: never Scramble City, extra bot, feet that are built in already.....

Skullface, did you ever get the G1 upgrade parts or upgrade to the v2 or later versions of the sets? But if you have upgraded, did they change your thoughts on the figure set? As I would love to see an update on this set or a review of the newer version sets. As it is still our only; closest to vintage looking; MP Devy option. [On a personal note, The metallic Constructor set on TFsource right now is OUTSTANDING!! Upgrade to it an sell off your older set if you have not done so already! I did and it was 100% worth it! As the purple of the metallic set is closer than the v1 that had the more midnight violet color purples and the chromed parts and more toon accurate silver painted parts really helps sell this set!]

Oh wow. That was a bit of a project. So I got my scrapper on, after sanding it. And it's *VERY* impressive. It's size is perfect, for my tastes. it won't be my new standard for combiners, but if you want a g1 style devy, this is probably your best bet. And for those of you with qualms about the head....well, since it's *GASP* partsforming (horrors!) it's EASILY replaceable by a 4th party like Dr. Wu. It's amazing.

I love my ToyWorld Devastator, but I am a bit put out with ToyWorld on this as well. I had to pay $600.00 for the full set + another 50.00+ for the upgrades. All of which you can now get in a single $450.00 set.

Based on your assessment, you almost saved me $660! I totally dig their individual bot as it clearly has that height and G1 look with the MP line. Combine mode is pretty much a nail in the coffin. What's really holding me back are those discrepancies which makes it not feel like a $600 toy. But it's definitely overall much better than the official. Perhaps an oversize KO 😆

+Ryver Choy the materials aren't bad, they're just not great. Better than like regular retail stuff, but not as good as a lot of 3p stuff. That's why the individual bots have some issues like stress marks and such.

$130.00 from Toyworld with better stuff? If TW had used ratchet technology like MakeToys this would have been on another level. Its kind of ironic to this day a tricked out TFC Devestator still looks beast but there obvious floppy issues. Generation Toy's Devastator should give us more of an Action Figure Masterpiece. I can imagine though once you pose this version it looks pretty badass. The size is impressive articulation not so much. Quick question when you hold in hand do you feel the same plastic mass / quality as MakeToys Utopia / Skorponok?

Didn't realize how big this guy is. I thought he was suppose to be at the size of Generations Gravity Builder, but he is way taller than that. He looks even bigger than CW devastator. This is actually a minus for me. I am having trouble displaying Metroplex already. Just don't have the space for another gigantic bot in my collection. For those who like the Studio Ox designs and want a good representation of Devy, they should be stoked.

+Bobby “Skullface” Skullface hey skull face I've been meaning to ask you this for some time...since your like the median between collectors and the companies that make these figures and since companies seem to value your opinion and sometimes send you figure, most recently maketoys, have you thought about suggesting figures for companies to work on. or even taking a poll yourself skull face then giving the information to the companies. I mean with the emergence of maketoys' headmasters and upcoming point blank I'm expecting to see weird wolf, mind wipe, ape face, skull crunch, and A massive six shot all in Masterpiece aesthetic. but is that wishful thinking? what about asking if companies are looking into even larger figures. with the emergence of toy world's GIANT DEVY I wanna know can we see an omega supreme or trypticon Masterpiece figure. maybe make them limited and solely based off of Pre orders. I know it may be a bit excessive but id love large representations of the figures. especially Omega supreme.

thats basically what studio ox was. it was a design company in japan that was used during the G! era. they did a few episodes etc

Finally got this put together after a couple hours of review vids. I got the yellow version so they must have fixed a lot of the issues because mine came together great. Scrapper though....fuckin Scrapper. He was the weak link in the combiner wars Dev as well if I remember right. Scrapper's thigh swivel just needs to be locked down. I wouldn't mind if he had no articulation in combiner mode if it meant stability. I wish they had come up with something to do with the extra bits like maketoys did. Overall I'm satisfied.

I feel you man I will double dip on this set...IF TW releases a G2 version on this set...which I believe they will. This combiner is too damn good! But word is TW is doing more G1 combiners... my wallet is already in pain lol

I'm still torn on the partsforming aspect but I'm starting to think that it's the only solution to get a true MP scale. It allows you to get properly sized individual bots and basically is the toy version of "mass shifting" to get that monster combiner.
