I just did this upgrade for the TP Link TL-SG2428P 24port switch. The Noctua fans are super quiet and I highly recommend this. The only thing not covered in the video is the polarity of the fans is back the front. You can remove the white keyed connector from the board and turn it round which lets you connect noctua fans using the correct polarity. Reversed polarity means the fans would suck air in, whereas in the correct configuration, they blow hot air out (which draws in cooler air). Look up Calvin Bui's TP-Link T1600G-28PS Fan Swap for details on turning the connector.

@@sorcier06 my LED blinks too, but at least the fan is running and quiet. 🤷

@@sorcier06where's that fan led? I'm planning swapping fans too, this model uses 2 right?

Interested to know if the switch is still working after 12 months. Many people have reported that the lower airflow from the Noctua fans have cooked their 2.5/10g TP-Link switches.

I need to swap the black and yellow wire on the noctua fan, to get the speed control working. Made an adapter from the extension cord that came with the noctua fan.

ever thought that a before and after fan noise comparison would be a good idea considering at the end you turn it on with the noctuas?

The noctua fan has a different pin layout and way less air flow. I gave up on changing the fans since many had their switch failed within a year.

Made some kind of upgrade. Because 'signal wire' of fan only detects spinning not rotation speed i made it constant to be sure that switch never report it as error. Added 4-wire fan with PWM control - it is cheap and simple to implement. So it is noisy only when needed, also replaced holes in case with 'grill' to improve airflow.

Hi, How did you did that ? Do you have more details please ?

Can it keep the temperatures in check now that you have switched from a 10.8 CFM to a 5.53 CFM fan?

Hah, nice one Captain. I would cut a big hole in the top cover, and put a 24 volt 120mm- 140mm on it. Just above the heat sinks. Small 4020 fans always make noise, especially after 6 months of use full trottle. Most of my 24 volt papst fans run on 12 volt. So not full speed. A 4 dollar PWM fan controller from AliExpress could also do the trick.

Well done. Good video. Thanks for sharing.

ahhh you realise that the pin layout from the original fan is different than normal?
@coopaudiovisuellegts74282 жыл бұрын
Indeed, Pin seems different. IS the fan spinning in the right direction? Can the system properly detect fan RPM?
