Hi. The "Link/Act" text on the fifth port means Link/Activity, and not Link/Account, and it refers to the indicator led on all the ports. It's only placed on top of port5 because of lack of space above the other ports

Good to know.
@waterfelon333 жыл бұрын
Sorry for bumping this comment but does that mean the 5th port is totally equal to other ones unlike what's being said in the video?
3 жыл бұрын
It functions like all the others. By convention, it is the one you use for uplink. I'm not sure if this has more capacity (it is a separate module after all), and therefore better suited for uplink. The module seperation is likely just because the port modules comes in 4-port and 1-port configurations. You'll see this in any switch and router
@DlcEnergy Жыл бұрын
Link = Solid Activity = Flashing They just so happen to put it over the last port's led. And the last port isn't joined with the rest since they're not grouped in 5's. All the ports are equal. It just appears to stand out because of these reasons.

"Link Account port" LOL. that is just the label of all the LEDs (link/activity). On a domestic unmanaged switch all ports are the same, you just create the habit to use the first or last port to use as uplink to a router, sort of mimicking what you do on an enterprise switch that usually uses the last port as uplink, some models even have a separate uplink port.

Hi, I had a question. Is this good for a mining rig? My modem has only 2 slots for ethernet, both are being used already. Also, how does it work if it isn't connecting to the modem? Sorry if thats a silly question.

Can not say for sure never tested it for that. Handles gaming fine so I would imagine mining would not be an issue.

Noobie question here. My cable modem from my ISP has 2 ethernet ports (A and B) at the back. Is it perfectly fine for my desktop pc to directly connect to ethernet port A and have my wifi router to occupy ethernet port B? what are the implications, pros and cons of this setup? thanks in advance for your response.
@Wanderer001_Reviews4 жыл бұрын
So in a set up like mine where my modem only as 2 port out that is connected to my wifi router I would have a desk top plugged into my wifi router. The more things that you run wired to your wifi router the faster you run out of plugs. This switch lets you add more wired connections should you run out of them.
@mikecui6264 жыл бұрын
@@Wanderer001_Reviews thank you for responding. but is it also fine for me to bypass my wifi router and connect my desktop straight to the modem? (since there are 2 ethernet ports at the back of my modem)

I purchased this from Amazon z ($15.00) . I have a 1gb connection at home and my direct wired test shows 992 mbps down and 913 mbps up. When I connect my PC to one of the 4 free ports, I can only get 50-60 mbps u/d. This speed transfer to any of the 4 ports and (CAT8 through Netgear Nighthawk WF-5)...Just tossing it out here.

Does this have to be plugged directly into a router? Or can I plug it into the Ethernet port in my wall and plug my devices into the switch itself
@Wanderer001_Reviews3 жыл бұрын
I have not tested it out myself however I do remember and commenter in a dorm room saying they were able to plug this in to the wall and use it. So in that instance it did not need to be plugged directly into the router.

Does it split the bandwidth? I have 1gbit cat6 cable, and 480mbps service, but i want to plug it in to the switch and then to my 2 consoles and smart tv
@Wanderer001_Reviews3 жыл бұрын
It's not quite as cut-and-dry as just splitting bandwidth. It will send more to the device that is requesting more.

I know you can use just about any type of screw to wall mount it to a wall, but does anyone know what is the most optimal size and type of screw? It appears the diameter of the screw head should be 4 mm, and depth 3 mm. I am hoping someone can verify for the TL-SG105 Thanks
