awesome! well done with all the B-roll and screen recordings and stuff. something I think would add to the searchability(?) of future videos is more visual lists/names/words/numbers in general, but especially a checklist of things you look for in a device that you update throughout the video. Privacy, no proprietary bs, etc. If you show it visually that makes it easy to find the parts of the video where you're doing stuff vs parts where you give scores. I think this video is actually informative and useful to people looking to buy this device or people that are about to install it, so good job on the first one!

There is no free cloud account. Can I link the camera to HA without Tapo Care?

You can always just use ONVIF

Great Video but this Hacs integration no longer works and not sure if it is Tapo or HA but they both need to get it figured out!

I followed the steps in the video. I created an account for local video access under advanced settings in Tapo for the camera. However, I cannot proceed beyond the section where it asks for the cloud password. I have never activated the cloud feature. Despite entering the password from the initial login to the app correctly, it still gives an error. I am reaching out for help from anyone who has experience or suggestions regarding this issue. Adding a Tapo camera to my Home Assistant has proven to be surprisingly difficult, which has caused some disappointment with Tapo for me. I appreciate your support.

I found out that to add the camera without internet access you need to *disable* data on your phone so the app is forced to use your IoT wifi network even though it has no internet access. Otherwise the app will try to reach the cloud and not find your local camera.

Thanks for this. I bought a Tapo C110 12 months ago, absolute junk. I managed to get it working with the app, but only after moving the camera out of my DMZ and creating an account with TP Link. I could sometimes connect to a livestream using VLC. I didn't even bother trying to integrate it with home assistant. Terrible, do not buy anything from these guys.
