Excellent Video - I had to wait until the end to get the bit that I wanted - I think it will do what I want. I want to always have the power to the bulb on and just want the switch to toggle it. In that way I can have a smart bulb and control that through alexa - but strangers coming to my house can just toggle the bulb on and off but the bulb remains connected

hey , did you manage to set that up? can the switches be used to trigger alexa routines to control the smart bulbs? ( as i dont have tapo smart bulbs , there philips wiz soo to control them i would have to use an alexa routine )

@@LNprod12yes it works well now. When I first got it it did not have the trigger any routine but it does after a software update. That said I did not then fully install the switch because the depth of the switch mechanism meant I would have to replace the pattress box and that was a hassle to far for me to be bothered

Hello! Can i use this product on garden lights? There is a mechanical legrand timer but it brokes every year. Can i use this to control lights open at 18.00-6.00 for example?

Caution!: I bought that S210, but it can't be linked to the H200! The reason is that the frequency communication codes of different countries are different, so it cannot be linked to H200 922 MHZ (US) S210 868MHZ (EU).. The conclusion is that the code is linked according to the country! Ordered H100 again :(

I’ve got a Tapo smart bulb. I can say Alexa turn bulb on or off. So why would I buy this switch?

Put the Sensor near the hub to setup, and then install it to the desired location. If 40m is an open distance, there is no problem for Tapo, because Hub and Sensor use 868Mhz or 922MHz for communication, which covers a longer distance than zigbee and other 2.4GHz wireless communications, usually over 100 meters.

You probably wouldn't. Voice control can be a bit of a pain for some people though: I turn my smartplugs on/off 70% of the time with the little switch on the side because it's too much of s faff to say 'hey Google..' or start up the tapo app.

@@davidlei6930 Do you know if you need to have it connected to something? I wonder if it can just be a dummy switch and be used as a trigger for something but actually no wires connected to it.

@@hansr370 S220 needs to be used with Tapo Hub (model: Tapo H100), and the two of them are connected through a low-power wireless protocol. H100 is connected to the router through Wi-Fi, so that S220 can use Internet communication, and you can control S220 through voice assistant. S220 is a smart switch that can control ordinary light bulbs. It uses battery power, but it can control the circuit switch behind. Because there is generally no neutral wire in the wall light box, it is impossible to fully power the S220.

It is supported, there are instructions on how to set up Google in the Tapo APP, and I have succeeded.

@@hansr370You don't need to have it connected to anything mains-wise, no. You could just carry it around in your hand, as long as it maintains contact with the necessary hub. The switching would be an event which /may/ be processed locally, but you'd probably want to set up an autonation based on a state change.
Its SO easy anyone can install it.. TP-link Tapo Smart home
