Came here from Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen's interview- So Sushmita had lost her earrings for the final round was crying at the dinner table. This beautiful angel- Miss Phillipines Charlene walked up to her and asked her how can she help her out as she was in her country- Phillipines. She took her to her room and opened to her all her earrings to choose from! When Sushmita asked her which one was she planning to wear Charlene replied you may choose whatever you want. I can get arrange for another pair as it's my home country! After the pageant when Sushmita was crowned Miss Universe she went to return the earrings to Charlene. She replied are you mad! These are your winning earrings! Please keep it as a gift from Phillipines! Till this date Sushmita still has those earrings! so the earrings that we see Sushmita wearing when she won the title that night were actually given by Charlene! This 1994 Miss Universe pageant is indelible in my memory seeing it as a teenager in Manila, Philippines and the excitement and joy as Miss India, Sushmita Zen was crowned as Miss Universe that year.
