Am I wrong in thinking that this years defense has the potential to be an OSU all time great defense? Im thinking they get several shutouts and most likely average giving up around 10 points per game during the regular season.
@jamescooper33244 ай бұрын
They did that last year basically. Michigan averaged 10.3 ppg allowed, OSU averaged 10.8 ppg allowed. And still lost to Michigan and the 5th best sec team… it’s not gonna matter how good your defense is when they have to face competition that’s close to their level on the field. The mentality is still soft in big games against physical teams.
@WillstarWorld4 ай бұрын
@@jamescooper3324 Michigan was a senior laden team with a multiyear starter. OSU lost to Missou because they were playing a QB with ZERO experience without the countries BEST WR . Try harder next time.

I would also ask the flip side Birm. Is Howard, Judkins an improved Oline and Chip Kelly worth more than last year?

OSU beat Akron 59-7 in '21 in McCord's first career start. OSU beat Toledo 77-21 in '22. This is the best defense that Day will have had. So I think they will be a better bet to cover this season.

That woulda been strouds first year and we was crazy good on offense in 2021 mcord filling in for stroud that game don't count lol. But yes technically it was McCords first start

I thought the Knowles hire was supposed to make you PROgress not REgress. I guess OSU fans were either wrong when he was hired or they’re wrong now and this defense is being overhyped. Amazing, a guy who had successful defenses in the Big 12 can’t bring it up to the level of a B1G defense and gets pushed around. It’s almost like that was an easy thing to predict. Just like OSU fans will be surprised this year when Will Howard, who couldn’t throw for 2300 yards in the Big 12 where no defense is played, ends up not being the savior they keep saying he is, and gets pushed around by B1G defenses. These are easys things to put together with some critical thinking.
@robschoenung95434 ай бұрын
@jamescooper3324 I'm confused by your post. Knowles' defense was much better in year 2, and might be the best in the country this year.

@jamescooper3324 Will Howard's skill players were hot garbage at KSU. Fortunately they are letting him use Ohio State players this season.

That defense couldn't stop in Michigan in the fourth quarter they ran the ball for 8 minutes and Knowles defense in the Cotton Bowl was a disgrace.

Ohio state has won a game by 50 in every year under Ryan day outside of the Covid year. 2019 - Maryland, Miami of Ohio 2021 - Akron 2022 - Toledo 2023 - western Kentucky The answer to “when was the last time Ohio state won a game by 50” is easy.. every year but a pandemic year

Austin always, always predicts Ohio State winning scoring 40-50 points and /or winning by 35-40 points spread. His record isn’t very good for as long as I have been watching these guys.

They lost the entire OL. Only returning Loveland as a starter. 0 depth. If they have a few injuries with that tougher schedule it could be a 21+ point win for the Buckeyes over Xichigan

The Buckeyes have enough depth to beat most of the teams on their schedule with their backups. If I were Ryan Day, my message to my team would be just that. I would tell the backups that they can show the world who they are by how they perform when they get in the game. I would tell them that their intensity and execution should be on the same damn level as the starters because they may well be starters if an injury occurs.

I don't at all agree with Birm on his OSU/Xichigan game take. Yes, there might be .. maybe .. some psychological pressure on Ohio State for losing the last three. But if I were the team, I'd know full well two of those wins were from cheating .. and last year they beat the worst OSU QB in the past 20 years .. by 6 .. in AA. That team would not have me on edge in any way. The only thing I'd be thinking is .. I can't wait to put this beat down on that a.. Go Bucks.

Man. That TTUN team last year was really good.. they just were. With that being said, they need to beat em by 20 plus

OSU can never admit when a team is better. No OSU fan in history has ever admitted a team that beats them is better. It’s always excuses. 2021 it was the weather, cuz apparently it wasn’t snowing for Michigan either. Aidan Hutchinson running over your OT’s was signs apparently though. He must be stealing signs in the league cuz how else could he be good? 2022, you played man coverage on 5 big td plays and got burnt, missed tackles, or couldn’t get off of blocks and you lost at home to our backup running back who ran it down your soft ass defense’s throat not to mention your own coach Ryan Day said he changed the signs before the Michigan game last year but I understand research and facts is hard for you. Not to mention in 2019 and 2020, Ryan Day and a bunch of other B1G coaches said they had Don Browns signs because he refused to change them but again, facts are hard for you. Oh boy we beat you by 6 last year, guess what buddy, a win by 6 and a win by 3 scores is still the same result. You still lost! Nobody cares about almost! You lost! You suck ass! You put up 3 against Mizzou! And now because you bought a bunch of players since you can’t win with the 48 1/2 5 stars I hear you bums brag about every offseason, we’re supposed to be concerned? Fix your culture, stop being a soft ass charmin bitch, learn how to blame yourself instead of others, and maybe you can beat the 5th best SEC team in a bowl game next year

@@bschmid100OSU needs to do to them what they did to us in Ann Arbor in 2021 after skipping game previous year. Run the ball down there throats and never let up. 21,22 games were tight going into half they got smacked in second half. 23 game could’ve gone OSU way if not for sloppy play by McCord and D not getting off field on 4th down bc of jj and his legs and Blake.

Be prepared for tOSU at Oregon for ball control to keep the Ducks passing game on the sidelines. Chip Kelly will burn clock with ball control running plays. Our O-line will be critical to control the line of scrimmage. The crowd noise Will be a factor. 🤔🏈🏈🏈

Michigan wouldn’t have beaten Alabama without McCarthy

If M knew every play OSU was running in 2022, it’s an indictment of Ryan Day and his system. M won by 22 because Jim Knowles had a harebrained defensive game plan. 5 TD’s of 42; 69; 75; 75; and 85 yards. Ain’t no amount of sign stealing causing that. Coaching malpractice was the culprit. Also and you can ask Penn State, Washington, and Alabama, M was more physical than their opponents. Coach Saban said M was the best coached offensive line he had seen. Nobody saying that about OSU recently.

Birm, Michigan, really???? If you think they are the same, please explain to us with all the seniors that left. The whole offensive line, WR's, and QB. Plus, they lost 2 starting Edge players. Plus, who will be the safeties and the other corner? If you think they are the same, you are trolling. That's not what I was expecting from you. It will not be close.

If anything, at least recall the '21 Akron game, where afterwards a lot of you contemplated whether we should bench CJ Stroud for true freshman Kyle McCord.🙄 Speaking of McCord, the Western KY win was just last year!🤦🏾
