After months of looking and asking so many people. This is the the first talk I’ve found that gives an opinion of the different heads. Thank you, I’ve made my mind up now

That sounds great. Will look into that. And it’s great to see ya back on the bike Travis. Broke my fibula and ankle while back and couldn’t wait to get back on the bike. Can’t wait to see you guys back in Oregon.

It’s a fantastic thing to add to the bikes. I don’t know anyone who has ridden one and regretted it. Thanks and I appreciate it 👍

Y'all forgot to mention with the TSP kit there's the added benefit of increased oil injection. Man I love the TSP kit with medium comp head. It really woke the bike up throughout but still butter smooth down low.

I’m sorry sure if it does add more oil or not. I haven’t noticed an increase in oil consumption And I love my medium as well. Perfect boost for the bike

I recently bought a 22 KTM 250XC-w to replace a 16 Husky TE250. From all I had read and seen, I thought for sure I'd need to be tuning the TPI engine. Not so.. The XC-w has a fantastic engine for riding here in southern New England. I find the TPI's smooth, instant power delivery is magic in our NE terrain. Its also very unwilling to stall with surprising grunt and I'm a 245lb rider. I actually don't need more power and definitely don't want to make my TPI "feel like a carb" bike... The only question in my mind is; could it use more oil injection to be heathier for the engine? Right now, I'll have to trust the engineers, because my XC-w runs too good to mess with.

MOST The bikes are fantastic from the factory. Occasionally, there is one that is a little bit off and it does need to be tuned, but it is not something you need. If you’re looking to pick up a little bit more top in power or make the bike, run a little bit smoother, it’s something you can do If you want a little bit more bottom and putting a head on the bike is a good way to do that down the road Have fun and enjoy that new bike

You took the words out of my mouth with New England trails and TPI. I added a 9oz flywheel weight and it’s perfect. I do both moto and NETRA trails and it does both great.

Are they changing base gasket thickness for port timing like other head companies?
@EverySingleSunday
@EverySingleSunday 2 жыл бұрын
No they are not. Just a tune and head. Then a different power valve setting and air screw setting depending on how you plan to use the bike.

I ride at sea level in tight woods 2nd through 4th gear mainly what compression head would you recommend? I don't want to have to run race gas or over-heat, thanks.
@EverySingleSunday
@EverySingleSunday 9 ай бұрын
For sea level I like the medium comp head. If I head up to 8k or higher I prefer the high comp head. I have friends that run the high at sea level with pump gas. But it’s too fast for me personally

High comp head has silly pop off little features (or big kickers) and still lugs great in chewy hard enduro situations (creek beds, clear cut schnarf, pivot turns, etc). If you are an aggressive rider try the high comp first. I avoid trails as much as I can, and still love my TSP high comp with TBI relocate and oil delete. It's changed the way I look at the terrain, and makes climbs and step ups way easier. Don't listen to Jarvis and Larson and everyone else lol, they are aliens. Try the high comp. It's like cheating

I’ve ridden the high comp but it’s too much for me unless I want to ride fast stuff. The medium is my favorite for sure But I also live at sea level. I might go up to a high or super high for some Colorado trips this year I appreciate your input

I’m sure you can mix n match heads. This one is flat power and so good for Tech riding. The RK tek is for faster revving if you want that

What does a low comp head feel like? I ride up to 2000 feet max in tight east coast woods.
@EverySingleSunday

It’s a little more compression that the OEM XCW head. It’s good for slow technical riding where you don’t want much more power but do want a slight increase in bottom end. I’m a big fan of the medium comp head myself. The high is too much for me

@@EverySingleSunday Ok cool. It might be the ticket for me. I got a Gas Gas EC300 a few weeks ago. Only thing I feel like I’d want is a touch more grunt right on the bottom. I’ve heard a lot of good reviews about the medium. So many options these days. Great times in off-road bike world. 😀👍

How bad does the tsp kit effect your fuel mileage?
@EverySingleSunday
@EverySingleSunday 2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t notice a difference over stock. The bikes will still drink the gas if you’re on the gas and still get great mileage if you’re just cruising

Do you need to run race fuel for the higher comp heads?
@EverySingleSunday

We have been running 91 Pulp Gas with the medium and high comp heads without issue. I would talk to South Bay when ordering to confirm though if they recommend that for the High
