Having been to both Disneyland Paris and Efting, I'll never understand why Eftling is in second place. Both parlks are absolutely delightful but Eftling is a theme park like no other. Every single detail is magical!

If you come over for a themepark trip and you only have a week or so base yourself near eindhoven rent a car and you get 3 really well themed parks, Efteling, toverland and phantasialand. if you also like thrillrides walibi belgium and holland are also within a 2 hours drive and plopsaland de panne just over 2 hours ( a family park with one of the best coasters in the world), also you still got 2 slightly lesser parks with movipark germany and Bobbejaan land (those i would skipp if you don't have enough time but are still quite ok).

@@TPMvids Fair point, however as a small honorable mention i would like to add Python was the largest steel coaster in Europe when in opened in the 1980's. It also has some other cool trivia and used to be a staple in the park and the country, although it was a somewhat rigid ride until they renovated the coaster some years ago. It is smoother now and still is a crowd-pleaser, but again you're right... it lacks in theming where the rest of the part mostly excels in.

I'm glad about Sprookjesbos's position. It's charm is often overlooked by foreign visitors, but it really is one of the most fun things to do at the park. The tradition in our family is that no trip to the Efteling is complete without Droomvlucht. Whatever else we might miss doing while we're there, Droomvlucht has to be done.

Living in Belgium, Efteling is only an hour's drive from me and one of my absolute favorite parks ever. Its theming, its storytelling, its music, its sense of bewonderment is off the charts. It's an absolute delight! So many other great attractions that didn't make the list. For example an authentic fantastic steam carousel from the early 1900s. It's fast and fun and beautiful, and will ruin every other carousel for you 😀

I've been going to Efteling for my whole life, as an normal guest and also as a annual pass holder. Fata Morgana has always been my favourite. The music blasting through the speakers, the smells, everything you get to see and the excitement I always felt as a child when entering the ''forbidden'' and dangerous part of the ride. A perfect start of your day at Efteling!

I am from the dutch part of Belgium, so de Efteling is not that far away. I love the park a lot! I have so much respect for you trying to pronounce the names in Dutch, its not easy and i think you did very well. I do have some opinions about the rides i would like to share tho :) Fata morgana is a really fun dark ride and it feels very authenitic, i would have liked a drop after you see the big Jinn tho. Would have made it better. I always miss it when I'm on the ride. De droomvlucht was closed for a while and it was necessarry. The rain didnt work for a long time and there wasnt water anymore where the trolls are 'playing' I haven't been on it since its back open so i hope to be able to ride it soon! My favorite ride is Villa Volta, I think it has everything. Great story telling, an animatronic and a little bit of 'thrill' (de barron also has all of this but it feels les authentic i think) I understand you do have to speak Dutch to know what the story is tho. Thank you for making this video, i really enjoyed it!

When we were stationed in Europe in the 80s, my family would often go to The Efteling and the neighboring safari. One of my hopes is that more theme parks would incorporate the talking trash cans. They can theme them however they like, but I remember trying to pickup trash faster than anyone else to have the magical trash can whisk it out of my hands!

Very happy to see a video about my favourite park! My personal favorite attraction here is De Vliegende Hollander/The Flying Dutchman. I just love how it combines a dark ride, a rollercoaster and a splash and has an amazing queue to top it all off! My second favourite queue of all the rides I've been able to do so far. I'm Dutch and I love the Efteling, it is my favorite themepark in the Netherlands, I love the darkrides the most and you can easely go to this park for a couple of days if you want to see and do everything. The reason why some of the animatronics in Fata Morgana are a bit janky is because these animatronics are all made by hand. Fata Morgana was the first attraction ever with these kind of animatronics. There is a documentary about it, so interesting! Soon it will be closed en they will be "fixed" again 😊. Love your video!

Fun fact: the Indian water lilies (de Indische waterlelies) was written by the late Belgian queen Fabiola, especially for the Efteling for their 15 year anniversary.

I went to this theme park on my transition year school trip and really enjoyed it! All of my classmates left me to go on the rollercoasters (which I’m very scared of) and I ended up on my own for the day but I had a great time chilling on the dark rides and exploring the park. I have been in this park 2 times in my life it's a fun park and most of the rides mentioned on this list I have been on, but I do think they missed one good one. Villa Volta the cursed house. it's something you want to ride atleast once when you visit.

As someone who has visited this all her life, if you get the chance to come to europe, do it!! Its a gorgeous park with both rides and activities for the kids and great thrill rides for the bigger kids (us coaster enthusiasts). Its amazing!! Other parks nearby that I'd definitely recommend are Europa Park and Phantasialand in Germany. I consider these three the holy trinity of european parks. Theres also Toverland, bobbejaanland, plopsaland and movie park germany, but theyre all smaller and less of a themed experience than these three, but still pretty fun! I hope you can visit one day and enjoy this magical experience

The thing I love most about the Efteling compaired to Disneyland is that it feels less like they want to rob you of all your money. I understand both parks are businesses but in Disneyland you’re always tempted to spend more money on stuff like skipping lines while the Efteling feels more sympathetic in that way.

That's because Efteling has no shareholders, the money they make goes back into perserving the park. That is also the reason it is still affordable because they want everyone to be able to visit the park.

I freaking love Efteling! Got to go once in spring of 2017, I'm so sad I just missed the opening of Symbolica! De Vliegende Hollander is my favorite ride, but I have to admit I'm a little sad Villa Volta wasn't on the list lol. It's the only ride of that type I've ever been on and it tripped me out! Still, I love to see Efteling getting some solid recognition! I want to go back so badly, but I can barely afford a trip to DIsneyland these days, much less the Netherlands, as beautiful as they are.

As a Dutchy I love this video. I’ve been to the Efteling every year (sometimes multiple times) for as long as I can remember. We love Disney in our household, but we have equal love for the Efteling. Some of my favorites in the Efteling are: Pirãnha, symbolica, Droomvlucht, Fata Morgana and de vliegende Hollander. Also… when in the sprookjesbos, listen or sit on the mushrooms (not drug related 😂)

This park has garnered my awards including the Applause Award from IAAPA in 1992. Magic Kingdom 1980 also has that award. No doubt Disney was also inspired by this parks excellence.

Cool to see "our" Efteling featured here. Glad you had fun. It's a great park for sure. Python was my first real rollercoaster when I was a kid (I'm 43 now). They just pretty much rebuilt it. I wish they had just had a farewell ceremony and replaced it with something better-themed. Baron is by far my favorite ride. I still like Sheikra better because of the scale, but the theming on Baron is excellent! They're building "Dance Macabre" right now, looks to be another winner. And the theme song is such a great classical piece. Compliments on the Dutch pronunciation by the way. I know how hard Dutch words can be for somebody who natively speaks English. And I'm totally stealing your "Holle Bolle Gijs". Sounds way better when you say it. 🤩

In Volk van Laaf, they're actually brewing a beer called "Laafse Lurk". They stopped selling and producing it back in 2003. Since the Volk van Laaf is technically a kids attraction, and they decided it wasn't a good combination

16:02 You make a very good point here! This is exactly why the second word to describe the atmosphere of the Efteling after - in their word - wondrous... To me is.... Sinister - You can also notice it in Fata Morgana, Baron 1898, Villa Volta and many more attractions here. I've see two young women in visiting in the past leave the entrance of the former Spookslot - don't get me wrong, that used to scare me as a child as well, but overtime spooky was not the word for it. Scary neither. As with a lot of the atmosphere Spookslot was sinister. You won't get startled in the Efteling. And I love that!
