TPP - how many lumens?

THOUGHT PROVOKING PIECE - ‘’How much lumens should my flashlight have? ‘’- is the equivalent of the question of ‘’how much friends I should bring to a fight?’’ all of them, lol.
But seriously, while there are other considerations such as the rate of the candela, design, and training itself - lumens are something to take into consideration. The approach here is simple. Humans are diurnal creatures. In other words, we perform better when more light is available, and we are losing that quality of performance as the level of light is reduced. While many cognitive capabilities are diminished when light is reduced, primarily and most obviously - our vision is simply not best tailored for low light.
So, if you want to solve problems, you need to see problems, and you need to need to see how your solution to the problem worked out. So if we need to see, we need power. That power is your lumens. Now consider this.
Flashlights are for search, identification, control and communication. All four aspects of use are influenced by the environment's different levels of lights (from and to) and influenced by the observers/target current level o light adaptation.
As a patrol officer, it will be sucky if you're in an apartment, and you wanna control someone, but that 300 lumens flashlight does no difference compared to a standard 60-watt incandescent bulb, for example, which produces about 800 lumens of light.

It is worth noting that candela power is just as important as lumens, and arguably moreso depending on the light's application. Comparing lights to water hoses, a high lumen light with lower candela can give you really nice spill and area lighting up close like the mist feature of a garden hose. A lower lumen light with higher candela can push the same concentration of light further giving you throw like the jet setting of a garden hose. Along those lines, high candela will give you a more efficient way of reducing photonic barriers (ie: shining a flashlight from outside a window into a dark room under a full sun) and pushing more usable light on target. But yeah, as long as it fits in your mission, purpose, and sustainability, more lumens where ever you can.

My weapon light is pretty high that being said I also have a flashlight I use for medical applications so its right at 600 lumens with regular/red/green lenses which can be a bit bright when on its normal setting for the purposes its being used for so keep it in mind you use what you need.
