It's the classic TV series from the 60s and 70s that I've enjoyed the most, especially Maigret, Public Eye and The Main Chance. Other series like Rooms, The Gold Robbers and The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes I'd never previously seen or even heard of and they've all been a revelation.

Can you please treat us like intelligent adults and stop the warnings before everything. There was one before Laurel and Hardy for goodness sake! It's the rubbish on the main channels that need warnings with all the sex, nudity and salty language, not Laurel and Hardy, Kenny Everett and Benny Hill. If the law doesn't require you to do these 'warnings' can you please stop doing them. We are the generations that grew up with those very scary public service announcements that scared the bejeesus out of us and were meant to. Apart from that I have watched TPTV from the start and will still do so as it's the best thing on TV.

Just to mention first of all that I didn't see the warning you refer to... my point will be a general one You could apply the "treat us like intelligent adults" just as equally to the content that you say does need it. Not everyone grew up the way we did and soon enough we will be dead. Imagine for a moment that it's not just us old fogeys that watch the channel, or that we should want to keep it for ourselves. Now imagine a 15 year old (of any sex, ethnic background, etc.) that has never seen any film pre-2010 and accidentally watched Brief Encounter one afternoon and was intrigued. To them, casual racial-epithets bandied about by good-natured protaganists will come to them as much of a shock as a stray flash of nipple may (may) come to you. Not too long ago, I was of the same mind as you; however, I've come to see such warnings as mere good-manners and an act of due-dilligence if we want the like of TPTV to have a grateful audience for many years to come. I think you'll find that they (and all other UK TV channels) are required by the dreaded OFCOM to show these warnings. As an example, the 'That's 60s TV' does the same whenever they show a programme from a vintage time period!

@@alexrinse The thing is, it's not just politeness, though. It's evidence of the ongoing infantilisation of society that even grown adults - nevermind a hypothetical 15 year-old - would claim to need a trigger warning before watching an old film. The fact that someone could have lived on this Earth for fifteen years and still need to be warned that people who lived sixty or seventy years ago had different values to us today is frankly very worrying. There is a world of difference between a content warning - nudity, violence, profanity - and warning someone they may encounter an attitude or expression they don't like and thinking that would somehow be a trauma they should avoid.

I believe the warning is compulsory to safeguard the health and safety of any sensitive petals venturing into the wilderness outside of the safe main media channels full of wokery, virtue signalling and loveliness and discovering a disturbing reality bereft of Facebook, Twitter, inclusion, diversity and Mrs Brown's Boys.
