Had a 505 and still love the sound

@@dfreeman120 it’s an underrated machine - snare and rimshot very special - and I like the super dry hihats and ride cymbal. Bass drum needs a little eq or augmenting to boom effectively. Would help to have separate outs. This is a raw stereo out mix

505 is like a stiff nerd sibling of a 707, i love it

I kind of dig the yellowing on your 505. Proper grungy.

Yes - once was light grey 30 years ago. Stories to tell

Wicked groove right there

Glad you dig it! BassStation, DrumStation, 505, SY85 - sequenced from a Beatstep Pro - doesn’t take much to get things vibing!

Cool video. Wow you made the snare sound very punchy and all the sounds are eq’d well. Love those pads. Seriously nice. I got a few acid 505 vids too lol.

Thanks man! Yes it’s a great machine for tight early acid drums. I made this video to show off it’s repertoire and it developed into a sort of acid track. I actually just sold the 505 after having owned it since about 1988. Sorry to see it go now after messing around with it in my new setup! I see from your channel we have much in common regarding this stuff - I’ll take a look when I get a moment

@@TheBroDotTV hah yes. That yellow plastic is supposed to be light grey. This thing has many stories to tell

@@quietandpeacefulman Ooo wow. You know I really like it. I managed to snap one up before the prices went a bit silly.

I'm only beef with the 505 Is there's no trigger out. There is midi so it's not that big of an issue. still love the sounds and making beats with them. Good video:)!

626 has trig, midi and individual outs. And pretty much for the same price, so it's the one to get between the "cheaper" roland vintage drum machines

Really nice arrangement, I love the looping appergiating synth! how did you get the appergiator on your synth to continually loop as you control the filter on it?
@quietandpeacefulman Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The arpeggio is managed by the Beatstep Pro. You can set the length of individual patterns and drum parts which makes it easy to develop polyrhythmic structures. So the arp is just an odd number and cycles on its own loop and phases over time while I manually tweak knobs on the BassStation itself to change the sound. Hope this helps!

May I ask what are those additional knobs? I plan to mod mine just for fun and this looks cool :)
@quietandpeacefulman2 жыл бұрын
Those aren’t knobs on the 505 - they are separate phono outs. I bought it like this back in late 80’s. They have never worked and after looking inside see why as all the soldering points have come loose! I have sold this drum machine recently to a good home. Maybe they will resolder them. There are many mods online to allow you to bend and customise the 505. Good luck!

Man that bass station sure sounds like a tb303. I keep trying to get my bass station 2 to sound like a tb303, but to no avail.
@quietandpeacefulman Жыл бұрын
Thanks. The BassStation rack has a section of the manual which describes how to emulate a TB-303. I have a TD-3 now which I dedicate to that and use the BassStation as a powerful general 2 OSC analogue monosynth

@@quietandpeacefulman nice! Im gonna have to check the manual on the Bass Station and see if I can apply the same settings the BSII and get that sound. Thanks for the heads up
