I appreciate all the time and energy you're putting into making sure there is valuable information in a concrete fashion available.

Thanks, I'm glad the content is appreciated by players. It's always nice to know that it's helping folks out to have better games of Magic.

I'm glad you made this episode because i felt like I knew all this but I didn't. So thank you because now I do.

Cool beans, happy to help out. If there are any other tricky scenarios that you can think of, let me know and I can include them in the follow-up episode for next week.

would be really curious to hear how a bunch of these rules interact with one of my favorite cards in my goad decks. Invasion Plans

Ah, I will add this one to the list of cards to cover for next week. These are the sorts things I'll be covering in that episode.

That is some vicious art, love it!
@ThisIsACommanderChannel2 ай бұрын
Oh yeah, the card is Village Rites from the artist Igor Kieryluk who is a legend in the Magic art world. They've done a ton of card arts and they always do a fantastic job. A couple of their most well known arts are probably Deafening Silence and the original Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite.

I own and play 5 different goad decks. I see a goad video. I click the goad video. It makes me go design more goad decks. I swear it's not a problem.
@ThisIsACommanderChannel2 ай бұрын
HAHAHA! That's awesome! Which are the five you have? My first RB deck was Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant and it quickly became my favorite deck. I also made Jon Irenicus, Shattered One but it doesn't give away mean creatures but evasive creatures, and then recently I built Rendmaw, Creaking Nest and I've only gotten to play it a few times but I love it already.
@DraXCore2 ай бұрын
@@ThisIsACommanderChannel so it started with the Baulders gate precon for Firkraag. Then I made Jon Irenicus. Then the Nelly borca precon (which has an actual goad win con red enchantment in it.) then rendmaw my bird man. Then Braal lord of murder.
@ThisIsACommanderChannel2 ай бұрын
@DraXCore Ah, very cool. One of the guys in my playgroups has a Firkrag deck, it's pretty solid. Nelly is very good too.

That's some really loud motoring at the end. Yikes. Maybe someone goaded them.
@ThisIsACommanderChannel2 ай бұрын
HA! You know, I think were all goading each other. I have no clue where they do these races, I hear them on a lot of nights, maybe one day I can find it out and go watch. Never seen a street race in person.

Only one question: what is your preferred spelling - Ta-ta or Tah-tah
@ThisIsACommanderChannel2 ай бұрын
I... um.... I....... uhhhh.... Putting me on the spot with this one, huh. I want to say that in my head it is "ta ta" but I could also see it as a hybrid like "ta tah" as the 1st one is a quicker one just by a bit.

Obey ALL restrictions, no exceptions, and satisfy as many requirements as possible. Interesting that they call them requirements since we can so easily not meet requirements. I wonder if a better word could have been used back when they first came up with it.
@ThisIsACommanderChannel2 ай бұрын
Yeah, it might have been more fitting to call them "checks" as you sort of check off as many as you can.
@kyleedmunds53292 ай бұрын
@@ThisIsACommanderChannel Checks, I like that.
@seandun70832 ай бұрын
Requests?
@ThisIsACommanderChannel2 ай бұрын
@@seandun7083 Yeah, I could see that one too. The game is asking of you to do something, it's requesting that you do them. I guess request has a bit more of a sense of you just choosing to not do it. It's a tricky thing. As always, I don't envy the designers for their job, especially when you get into accounting for other languages than English.
@seandun70832 ай бұрын
@@ThisIsACommanderChannel yeah. I guess in this case it helps a bit that it's mostly just a term that shows up in the CR as opposed to one that's on cards themselves. Intervening-if-clauses however are one that could maybe be changed to make them more clear for newer players, though I'm not entirely sure how to do that.
@Rukalin27 күн бұрын
Something I've been wondering: With Hive Mind and Swarm Intelligence in play, player A casts Disrupt Decorum, so every player gets to use DD but A does it twice. Do A's goads count as two requirements? In other words, do A's opponents have to choose a player other than A again?
@ThisIsACommanderChannel26 күн бұрын
Ah, interesting scenario. Both of the effects that Goad does (1: the requirement that they attack if able & 2: the requirement that they attack a player other than the controller of the Goad effect), are redundant in that multiple instances of them being applied have no effect. Sort of like how a creature with Flying that is enchanted with an Aura granting it Flying doesn't mean it has a superior version of Flying. So it would be treated in the same way as if there was only just the Hive Mind. As an aside note, I had one of the craziest games ever a couple weeks ago with my Magar deck and someone playing Hive Mind. The turns took so long, it was bonkers. I want to tell the whole story one day in a video, maybe in a Q&A if the question comes up. It is wild.
@Rukalin26 күн бұрын
@@ThisIsACommanderChannel Oh, that's kinda of a bummer, thought you could stack 'em up to overpower other goads. Is the same true for stacking goad with Kardur? But yeah, Magar with Hive Mind sounds pretty good
@ThisIsACommanderChannel26 күн бұрын
@@Rukalin Yup, the same would be true for Kardur, Doomscourge. The Requirements Kardur places are both redundant. Kardur is still really good compared to standard Goad though as it will include new creatures that player plays that could legally attack, like if they have Haste.

The cars racing at the end, must have been really loud or you just have a sensitive mic.
@ThisIsACommanderChannel2 ай бұрын
A bit of both. I record next to some large windows, so sound isn't blocked all too much like a typical wall would absorb the sound, so it was fairly loud, but also I use a Blue Yeti and it's pretty sensitive. I have the gain set to the lowest possible and I record at around 70% volume.
