Yes indeed it was. I was raised with family worship at the crack of dawn and then over breakfast we were subjected to James Dobson and his Focus on the Family nonsense. Then we went to school for more of it. And prayer meeting. And vespers. And church. And potluck. And on and on. Until I said I’m done at age 24 and left it all. The world is a cruel teacher, but you figure things out eventually. No one should ever be scared to leave. I didn’t know a soul outside my church until I did! What a ride! I left the church when I was old enough to leave home. I'd be lying that I never looked back, Stockholm syndrome is powerful, and when your informative years are spent in indoctrination, there really is a hole in your identity and self. Seeing it, as the evil it is, helps me continue, even after the social disadvantage compared to people from normal psychological environments seem to hold, with grace and dignity. I'll never see myself as a normal person, because there is no me. Now there is only a drive for truth, because the truth was not a luxury I was afforded. You cannot expect an apocalyptic ideology/theology to come up with actual solutions for future. As a humanist / socialist / anti-capitalist person. (Thomas Paine kind of person, my country is the world and my religion is to do good.) I didn't like either choice presented, but it's very clear how harmful electing our current "leader" is and would be incredibly damaging to any meaningful movement forward, incrementally or otherwise. The choice was *very* clear, voting for the Nectarine Nero would cause untold levels of misery, pain, and death. Thankfully, Tankies / Accelerationists are a minority in the community and often criticized for it and pushed to the fringes. I grew up in a Pentecostal household, glad I was able to pull myself out of it, going to college and meeting the people my parents stereotyped and figured out that those stereotypes were full of shit, and my interactions with the healthcare system "radicalized" me, as a chronically ill, disabled individual.

I don't really fall in either camp, but i definitely agree with the summation. Most people that I associate with are social democrats,DSA, Green Party, and the like. I would like to see a socialist solution, because as far as I can see it's the only scaleable ideology that seems truly equitable and just to really build on, however I will gladly admit that I have voted democratic since Nader stopped running. I'm not looking for perfect, but the closest that capitalism can come to ideal in my personal opinion would be built on the Sanders platform, of issues I'd love to see the Democrats en mass platforming harder for the working class, up until the the neoliberal agenda that was really born out of Friedmans economic philosophy and Regeanomics that gutted the unions and the manufacturing base in this Country we haven't been meaningfully spoken for at all. I'm a union auto worker in a red state and I have decided to join the political committee at my local. I am pushing with other members for a union education committee that focuses on the history and relevance of the unions in history at large. We also want to thoroughly inform members about the ongoing war and acts of violence that the ruling class has waged on us since organized society began. We also are proposing a contractual literacy reading group, where we can review the contractual language and give clarity to members of specific actions that the company may try to exploit their authority with references to the language itself. We also plan to distribute know your rights palm cards for members in regard to when to request representation from committee, who to call and what to say. The people need to be represented by the people and the power of solidarity needs to be realized and harnessed to defend what we can and build forward together ✊️

My uncle is the leader of his local union (can't remember what it's called but it's food service workers at industrial kitchens like you find in hospitals), he finds it to be very gratifying and rewarding. The people he represents also seem to really like him (when they had their last child, a whole bunch of people sent baby gifts). He really cares about the people he represents, so he always does his very best for them. Know your rights cards are a fantastic idea, if you find that you don't have enough space for everything you want to put on them, remember you can do something like make them trifold, like my voter registration card is, it's wallet size when folded but triple that when you unfold it. Just an idea. I'm definitely telling my uncle about your idea for the cards though, I hope you don't mind.

The thing that scares me is that as a mom, if I were in a desperate situation where my babies were starving or in danger, there is almost nothing I wouldn't do to feed and protect them. I really with YT had suggested you to me BEFORE the election. I never heard of Tankies before this, and it makes me ill. A few years ago, I finally told my wife she could pick a church if she wanted to still go to one. But by then she didn't want to go due to how politics had entered churches more so than in the past. The other thing that I realized in October and November: I looked up socialism's attitude towards disabled people. Traditionally, it wasn't good. They were trying to make the Ideal Worker who would still Work for socialism. I think Marx was probably ADHD. His adage "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need" sounds great, but he jumped around and never finished a lot of his ideas, including that one. As socialism developed it was definitely still more about creating ideal industrial workers--just not for capitalists. Once I realized that my Leftist tankie friends expect me to "volunteer as tribute," I soured a lot on the idea. I'm in the green square of the Political Compass--collectivist pro-civil liberties. But I like science. I want national healthcare and high educational standards and city planning and stuff that requires a bit of a state, and expertise. I want each parent to be able to work with other adults part-time and raise their children part-time. ANd I don't think that's what tankies, who love Mao and Lenin, really want. They're not about children's rights. Or disabled people.

Listen, we all know that the theory as written isn't perfect. But if you look at modern socialist organizations, they care way more about disabled people than your average pro-capitalist person. They're the ones advocating for policies that will improve the lives of disabled people. Sidebar, I was confirmed Presbyterian Church (USA) which is the much more liberal branch....they really downplayed the Calvinist connection, "the elect", etc. My Pastor reminded me a lot of Fred Rogers, who was himself a Presbyterian minister. The problem is is that when even moderately developed moderately wealthy nations go in a radical direction they historically they go far right communist government only came to power in poor under developed nations that were basically neo feudal in nature. I had just a week ago when we where trying to figure out if the freeze was taking our snap and Medicaid and wic that they where GLAD my kids where losing it because "you live in a red state you earned it" like TF I didn't vote for him....and the children of his voters didn't vote for him. I just don’t understand. I’m 71. I was raised in the LDS/Mormon Church. Around age 12, I started questioning. I’m Atheist now. I vote, follow people I trust and I feel have good morals. My one thing is, the truth. If they tell me something, I just say, what’s the truth? Show me, or I’ll look it up. Until then, I shut off the comments. If I find it truthful, I engage. If it’s not, I shut them off completely. I follow you.

I was homeless, did drugs, went into prison, where I got to know God. He changed my life. Now I have a home, a husband and a lovely year old daughter (Zoe), and a stream of income that gets me $32,000 Weekly. Plus a new identity- a child of God. I can now give back to the locals in my community and also support Charity organizations for these children. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MENTIONING HOW NOBODY SHOULD CHEER FOR CHILDREN STARVING OR GOING WITHOUT HEALTHCARE. That's what pissed me off when I saw the Bella Delgado video that blew up. You don't know anything about these children, but you want them to be hurt just because of who their parents are? That's disgusting,

Hey. Who are the prominent online leftists who ruined the identity of the left? I don't remember this, but I do remember that, in the wake of the UHC thing, everybody was saying "this isn't left vs right it's rich vs poor," which made me wonder if it was time to hang up the term "left" (but not my values) in order to be able to create common cause with people of good conscience as they reach class consciousness. So, I don't have a problem using a different term, but I am curious who these people you mentioned are.

Originally it was a term for group of communists in the UK, who supported the brutal invasion of Hungary by the USSR in the 50s. Tankies, because they were cool with Soviet tanks crushing a peaceful revolution. From there it's turned into a more general term for leftist extremists who like authoritarian regimes, as long as they carry a banner of communism or socialism.

Jesus pretty much ignored to oligarchy and hung with the poor. They got mad at him as well for hanging with the poor. Teaching on the mount tells us who will inherit heaven. It’s not the wealthy.
