I've been on and seen this rides dozens of times but never have I seen one operate at this speed - it seems that the ride operator is running this to it's fullest potential ! My God it's a wonder these people weren't launched into space ! ! !

Me too, when I was a kid in the 70's. It felt like you were going to fly off it, but you never did. I watched one of these at the PNE last year and it wasn't nearly as fast as I recall it from my youth. It was more fun when I was ten anyway.

Exactly!! I was always holding on for my life cuz the seats would taper up and you’d be sliding off holding onto this metal piece. I LOVED THE ADRENALINE this ride gave me

That's the whole purpose of the ride to get out feeling drunk... The perfect mixture of movements no one too fast but combined it's really playing with gravity in nice flowing movements. Wish i could find these rides in west Europe - takes me back to my childhood!

Man, on a side note, I wonder how this Trabant was able to get up to that speed? I mean holy hell! I've seen some Wipeouts get about as fast (Wipeout is the modernized version of a Trabant) but never a regular Trabant.

I worked in Palisades Amusement Park as a ride operator of the Monster...Loop-D-Loop-...Roundup and a couple of others. We were right next to the Trabant and rode it a bunch of times. The ride is capable of producing speeds like that but it is unusual for the long duration. You also don't run the entire cycle with everything engaged. Also..older rides have a history of stress and need to checked more often. Before riding any ride be sure the company hasn't had a continuous problem with safety.

I remember years ago I went on a ride at the fair similar to a Trabant called the Wipeout…and as the ride was going into the final spin, the power went out! It was out for a short while, but it was still scary!

@supersam33 you are so lucky notting happen omg, something was wrong because you can see when it trys to stop it slows down but then it speed right back up. that some scary experience you had. did you questiong the operator? or ask him why so long? I know I have a cousin that operates rides. he even saw this he said "OMG" rides like this should not be any longer then 2 to 3 minutes long. and yall lucky non of the screws got loose coz the ride could of spinned right off the crane.

That ride was way too long. I would have thrown up about half way through. Although it doesn't look safe; I am sure it is. Just looks very uncomfortable.

For 11 years I have wished this Trabbant would resurface but I think it's just a modded Trabant. He just changed the tire drive motors so they can keep up with the rotation of the platform motor. It's a good mod I think and I wish Wipeouts would be made with this in mind. I'd put on a better harness system because those riders are definitely experiencing ejector air time. Like I am sure those pops at the top are tossing them out of their seats easily 2-3 +g's easy.

it sure does look like the operator was not paying attention of some sort because this ride is on to long and the way its spinning to fast or something happen that it would'nt stop...its clear something went wrong with the ride.

wow the trabant is my favorite ride the one that i went on dont go that fast the thing is i never been on a wipeout but my friend did the one she went on was really fast her and her sister went on it when they got off my friends sister puked up she was not use to fast rides but my friend went on it a bout 30 times she loved it even though she was a tip top ride fan she was always looking for funfairs that have a tip top ride but she will ride on a trabant if she sees one she teases me a lot because that i use to love riding a trabant in a funfair in a resort we was staying at

this is also how I remeber this ride was operated before , and yes it was scary and wild, nowadays its more "controled"how they run it.usually only one way,and not changin directins and having those big waves on it.cause it really feels like you are going to fly out,or even puke,and poor person that is sitting on the end,. squeeeeze,. carts should have been changed on these.,.

trabant in the day,was and is a good ride.the operator gave you a good ride,but should not bend drunk at that time,very unsafe,and scary.lot of old rides, can give you a good ride, round up, trabant, cobra, paratrooper, and roc/ rol

Hey, it NOT a KIDDIE ride, That's the Trabant in all it's glory. It was designed to go through all those cycles. I haven't seen a ride that good in over 20 years. Of course it's safe. 99% of all ride accidnts are the riders fault. Hang on and have fun!

Fran Holz I've been on a few of them, and they are NEVER supposed to go this fast, with this many cycles, and last upwards of SEVEN minutes(!). The longest one I ever went on was at a street fair in Kew Gardens Hills, Queens, New York, which went in each direction ONCE (like the longer ones are supposed to do), and lasted 3, MAYBE 4 minutes at most.

The Off Brand Version of these rides go that long ours at Worlds Of Fun is 3 min long and you get it even more crazy and ITs Called Cyclone Sam and its inside a Building that is a barn and your riding to tornado its better than this one

This irresponsible fair made this ride way too fast, and way too long. It is either supposed to go only in a single direction, or once in both directions. The ride bar is supposed to go no more than 15mph, with the cars doing no more than 15mph in the other direction. That's it.
