Great video and super great instructions for how to mount the insta camera. However, I’m not as convinced as you that all the footage is quite as great as you say. It’s just a bit weird and fish-eye for me. That mount onto the handlebars is perhaps the most egregious imo. Anyway, each to their own and I still enjoy your vids :)

16:37 ok so a better solution to this problem is wax your cables when building the bike. And or, after each bike wash (every 300km) add a 1 or 2 drops of light oil to the cables resting in the cable guide after cleaning. Because having a housing that runs the length of the bike increases the friction, because the cable is touching more housing. What will happen over time is the cable that is now completely trapped in the housing will get damp and rust. As it rusts your shifting will deteriorate and I find it gets much worse than bikes that have the cables hanging freely outside or inside the frame. External is still best for cable life and shift quality.

You should also go ahead and do an external repair on the cracked frame. I'm sure you could make the cosmetics nice with some patience. That would also make a nice episode (with the carbon repair and painting).

People (especially in groups) tend to be indecisive and therefore slow, and this is why I always ride alone. Heck, I don't even bring a phone or wallet on rides, trying to keep the experience pure.

I saw a head strap mount for the cameras on the site, but I have yet to see anyone use it in action. I want to be able to use it with the X4 and feel confident enough to know that it won't fall off or something😅. Have you ever used the head strap mount for the X4? If so, how is it? Is it stable enough, will it stay in place with a lot of movement?

Here in the Philippines, some cyclist vloggers use INSTA360 GO 3. They like the magnetic features of the cam and i think it is the smallest sports camera in the world.

I love my x4 insta 360. It does however have serious downfalls. Those downfalls don’t outweigh the plus sides. The video quality is still kinda rubbish but good enough for KZbin. The noise is really bad especially in lower light but that can be fixed in post for the most part. The overall run and gun usability it is worth it for sure. A tip to avoid overheating is to remove the battery and run it off an external battery.

Yeah, the fact you can record in 8K or 4K doesn't say anything about video quality or crispness. In an extreme case it just blows up the video file size. Image quality depends on things like optics, the optical sensor being used, all that baked-in digital processing (like image stabilisation), compression, bandwidth of storage medium etc.

Yeah, I think if they decreased the video compression it would help. I use VideoAI on the video to help improve the quality and remove compression artifacts, but a recent GoPRO will give you higher quality video if you are using it like a standard camera. Having said that, I am still glad I got one as you can do things with it that you can't do with other cameras.
