care giver should wear a musk during cleaning procedures, pt may cough out secretions into your face and you want to keep this procedure as sterile as possible....

You should wear a mask during the procedure for your airway protection, and the sterile cotton applicator should be done first from distal area (top and bottom ) then proximity area ( top and bottom ). If there is any secretion should be collect it for culture and antibiograms.

Before that you have to suction inside with the vacuum trek pump tube than if sound clear than put trek back in. I also was a trainer of wound care. SkyDream Lyrics Production
