Hey John Thank you for teaching me something new today. I know the software is different these days but was still able to figure it out after some trial and error. I don't have any vinyl yet but at least I know how now.

Thank you for posting this video. I have been working in the trace image as well. However I did not get as far into it as you have. I am working on a Duck blind I think it is called. It is a black silhouette of three ducks flying over cattails and grass. I found it as an image file when I did a search for Ducks. I am planning on cutting it out in vinyl and adhering it to a clear glass plate and making it as a Father's Day gift for my husband. The small problem I was having is the cattails while cut in card stock would come apart from the pattern of design when I would take it off my mat. The cattail stems are very delicate. I have worked with the nodes as well but they only would encompass the actual circle that the design is set into. I have welded the ducks to the circle and the cattails have not welded as not the grass. With that said the design is well connected and really cuts beautifully. Maybe once cut in vinyl and I use the vinyl transfer sheet it will come together and all just adhere to the plate. I too was getting the gray back ground image and noticed that I could pull of the outline of the image while in color or outline choice in the trace application. I will give it a go as you did here. I have seen several of your videos and I am new to subscribing. I have now and liked your video and will give a check out for what is next and new of your posting. I think the Brother scan n cut is a marvel and at present I have two. I am just after two years purchased a cm650w equivalent to the Cm900. I noticed you have the pattern collection on your tab next to My projects and Projects. I was not lucky enough to get that on my canvas and to see what that is all about. I am in the U.S. I personally think that you are all ahead of us in use and knowledge and how to design in canvas then we over the pond. I love following all the Brit scan n cutters as you are all fantastic with working this machine and I am really learning a lot from all of you. Have a great evening and thank you again. Fawna

Great video and I've achieved some of the same results. I think the only real way to get clear lines on more complicated pictures is to try to trace them by color on some other software or manually use a light screen. Do you , or any of your watchers, know of a software that is able to take the more complex pictures and such and make it a simple line picture? Wouldn't that be nice? Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and inspiration.

Hi John, Thank you for your videos. I have many photographs of my beagles and I would like to put them on to shopping bags, cushions etc. The beagles are tri colour and tan and white, I have followed this video and can see how the colours are split but can you tell me please how I could cut the different colours out in vinyl to use?

If using the installed version of Canvas Workspace you can hide specific layers (colours) and only send one at a time. If using the online version, you'll likely want to separate the colours into their own cut files.

I have a question for you on this topic. I have some collage stamps that my Scan N Cut is having difficulty reading. Some parts of the image are fully enclosed with a clear outline, and other areas are open ended, ie. the lines stop and start in various places. Do you know if the "Enhanced Image Tracing" feature would allow me to use these capture lines to hug the edges of the stamp that are not enclosed? Or would I have to physically draw in a line to make the image fully enclosed before it can be properly scanned and cut? Thanks so much!

You'd still need to connect open outlines

I have just opened up my new Brother ScanNCut (Christmas pressie) and I bought the ScanNCut usb no4 to go with it. Unfortunately the files on the usb are all FC1 and are not compatible with canvas. I was hoping to be able to manipulate the box shapes to create my own sizes and feel restricted doing it on the small screen of the ScanNCut machine. Is there a way I can convert the FC1 files to FCM files. I'm also disappointed to find there is no Angel policy with this usb, which is another reason why I would like to be able to manipulate the designs on Canvas. Your step by step tutorials are very clear and easy to follow by the way.

@@GentlemanCrafterUK first, thank you for responding and for making your videos. What are the names of the videos that show how to draw with different colors in one file/pic!

First time I have heard of tracing. Can you explain what is the purpose of tracing? Thank you
@GentlemanCrafterUK6 жыл бұрын
The purpose is to create cutting files from non-vector image types.
