How much is the cost to have these people help find out what tribe you came from . I took DNA test that says that in 55 percent Native American but I cannot find any census or anything that’s says what tribe .

@darkeagle I assume you've never taken a dna test then. There isn't any dna test that will tell you what tribe you're from. It'll just say the region and generalize it. Not very many native samples to get a comparison from. And even if there are plenty of samples, it's not gonna differentiate the tribes. That's like saying if you do a DNA test it'll tell you your last name lol I suggest you take a dna test and see for yourself how it works before commenting and making yourself look ignorant.

There has been Native American DNA results in my ancestry DNA test. How would you find out what tribe or tribes you would be from. Is there a test you can take? Many secrets were kept by my grandparents. I was only able to get back to around 1830. The family originally migrated from Maine. I would like to know about it and any information about it would be great. I would like to learn my family routes if possible. Thanks in advance

If you’re ancestors were from Maine then I’d expect that tribe would be from the Maine region.

Your haplogroups? Haha c'mon. Stop disrespecting actual natives. I also have Native blood but I don't go around claiming that I am native. I didn't grow in a reservation. I cannot speak any Native language. I don't know anything about that. Being native is not just having native blood, it's much more than that. Don't disrespect actual natives by claiming you are something that you are not.

My Mom's Cherokee ancestors came from Table Rock North Carolina and lived in the Attacoa Gorge. They were Canups or Knups and were Moravians that married into the Cherokees and some of my ancestors were members of the Thomas Legion of Cherokees that fought for the Confederacy. Then I was surprised to find out on my Dads side that my Great Great Uncle Issac James Howard was adopted Cherokee by marriage through his wife George Anna Parish and their three Howard children were enrolled in 1902 into the Western Cherokee Nation in Indian Territory. Once you begin doing family research it can become so interesting that it becomes addictive

Does your DNA show your haplogroup? Stories and lores are nice, but unless you or your mom show a native haplogroup (A, B, C, D or X) on an ancestry test, then you and your mom were anything but Native American (genetically). This means your true ancestors (maternal) were Europeans and likely in a H haplogroup. So culturally, your mom is "Native." Just not through genetics.

Why does it matter he has native blood either way it's not a contest!
@Luci_S Жыл бұрын
Omg! Watching this video is cringe! You can claim tribal descendency if you can prove you had ancestors who were Native American and the actual tribe confirms it! BUT THIS DOES NOT MAKE YOU NATIVE AMERICAN! So stop the old ridiculous family lore of something, something, Cherokee! Cherokees have almost no blood quantum requirements, which is why most Europeans like to claim such tribes or affiliate with them. If your great granpa was "Native American," this doesn't mean he was Native American through genetics unless he can prove he belonged to a native haplogroup! Unless you take an ancestry test (y or x chromosome) which confirms a native haplogroup (A, B, C, D, X) for maternal, or Q/C for paternal, then you're anything but Native American! If you claim Native American ancestry through mom, grandma or great grandma, you better have a maternal haplogroup somewhere in your test that your X chromosome shows either A-D or X haplogroup! If you claim dad or great grandpa then you paternal haplogroup is either Q or C. People lie all the time but DNA doesn't! And no! Haplogroup R1 or anything with haplogroup R is not Native! That's is the most common European haplogroup in existence! So stop it! We dont want anymore pretendians! Edit: Example, I am male. My haplogroups are A2r and R-Z198. My mom is straight Native American and dad was European. Yes, my family was colonized/merged with Europeans and my haplogroups show that already. Obviously because I am a male, I can only pass down my Y chromosome with the R haplogroup to another male son but not to a daughter. And whomever female partner i marry, they will inherit an x from mom: choosing partners are important if you want to keep certain blood lines going. Now, let's say I am a female with the same haplogroups above (Obviously I cant inherit y chromosome but my male sibling confirmed it for me). Whether I have a son or daughter, then I can pass down that Native X chromosome with haplogroup A2r to either. If I have a son, he will not only inherit my Native American ancestry genetically, but also whatever haplogroup husband (their father) has. Females i.e. moms, sisters, grandmothers, aunts ARE the only ones that can pass down that uncombined X chromosome especially if it belongs to a native haplogroup! Males through their y chromosome get to pass down whatever haplogroup they belong to but only to males (son and their sons and so forth: the difference is males have only 2 native haplogroups they can pass down Q or C while native american females can pass down A, B, C, D or that rare X that pops up. If you're European and you're about as white as white bread and your eyes are about as blue as the blue skies, sorry to break it to you but your chances of having or inheriting a native haplogroup is near 0. This is why tribes have blood quantum to keep lines and weed out pretendians too! Heck, take an ancestry test if you want! Just dont be surprised if you have almost 100% European ancestry with an R haplogroup. Again, finding an ancestor on a tribe roll doesn't make you Native American: wouldn't that ancestry test shown you that already?! For f's sake! If you had an ancestors who claimed a tribe and "grew up" with Native Americans, this didn't make them or you native genetically. So by this technicality and law of genetics, you're not "Native American " especially if your autosomal results show 0 indigenous. And again, if you're clearly white/European, don't claim you belong to a native haplogroup either which is the equivalent of a Russian person claiming to be an Aztec which both are clearly culturally and genetically separate groups!

@Julian Bandera And the funniest thing is that that random Mexican does not identify as Native. Americans are so obsessed with race and genetics, but that does not matter. @@yeshuahebrews7999 if he had ancestors on the Dawes rolls, which obviously he does, guess what? He's Native. The tribes themselves get to set the criteria for who can be enrolled, and who is not eligible. Chief John Ross from the Trail of Tears was 1/8 Cherokee and and revered by the full-bloods who elected him. Now, let's talk about the so-called "freedmen" descendants who claim to be Native, but are only the descendant slaves of the Cherokee, Creek, Chickasaw, and Choctaw. Most have ZERO Native DNA. Talk about "culture vultures"...
