That's a really good point that the adjustment screw needs a jam nut. One side on mine suddenly loosened and that is a great explanation for why. Once again thank you for the detailed rundown on the Idler. The way I noticed that it was loose is the main cog wheel was getting packed in with damp dirt so bad that the track would freewheel. At first glance I didnt understand what was going on and then when I got closer i saw that it was completely packed in with dirt. Then I noticed it was loose.

I put a 10 mm spacer the same size as the shaft to prevent the tensioner going too far out and JB welded the other end filled it with grease too

Thanks for the info. I just got my dozer Friday..every f'n screw I could see was either not even snug or in some cases threaded only partially in. Like the screws on the cap for the planetary gears were all super loose. Wtf... apparently I need to take the damn machine apart and reassemble it so I make sure everything is tight! Separate issue from this but it's frustrating to pay a lot of money for something and f'n screws are literally laying in the box it came in because they fell out during transport most likely from not being tight.

Sorry to hear that bud! We learned a long time ago to check everything and yeah we find screws and bolts, nuts lose. We use blue thread locker also on everything.

Great video! I like how you made it on leap day(my birthday, I turned a whopping 7years old lol )I've had this the dozer for about 3 months now and just had a link break on me. Ive been looking for a "maintenance schedule" type video with no luck until yours. Would be awesome if you would make a few more!

I got mine & its got that play there & where that piece of turned steel goes into the undercarriage. What I'm gling to do is on the bottom side of the ideler housing theres that 1 single screw well , Im gping to drill & tap ( tap to make threads) for 4 - 4-40 set screws. 2 each side at an angle to '' pinch & hold '' it in place, it wont wiggle then.

I think I know what you mean. Your talking about the front ideler how it moves from side to side? Let me know how that turns out...

I'm going to order one ohh in a couple weeks if not sooner.Great video full of information. On the track addjuster screw , when new I would put some anti seize , it comes in a can & is like a bronze color , its called '' anti seize'' litely cote the bolt & find a nut looke like that bolt is NFT ( National Fine Thread ) and use like you said as a jam nut to hold it in place. Ive heard that track pens will work out.

Nice video. I’ve got the same dozer, haven’t had any issues yet, but good information!
