Does this make any entities so you can put in on a dashboard or get an alert when a flight enters your area?

Not directly. But there is a nice custom component that can pull data from it and display in HA Dashboard: github.com/fratsloos/fr24_card

When you share your info on Flight radar you get a free business account with it. Just more options / filters. I have been running mine (T-KAVQ20) for a while now on a separate Pi3b. Ranked #16386 in the world!! Woohoo.

would this work for tracking flights arriving at the airport i configured? for example i have friends coming to visit frequently and i put their flight number in my calandar. I built a template sensor that exctracts that number but I would like to be able to track the flight in a way that lets me know when the flight takes off ( to account for delays or early departure) and then notifys me when the flight is 20 mins from landing
@BeardedTinkerАй бұрын
Not directly as it's not able to predict time. You could in do it with a bit more complex automation to calculate the distance, but it would not be that simple. It tells you the distance from your location, not the airport, also you need to take into account speed and also height too. Other issue is distance - with standard antenna I get around 150-200km range, max. And App/integration will show you only data from your local received, not site itself.

Great video but I got this working via node red and the flightradar24 and worldmap node and no usb dongle. It's great. I've got a map in Home Assistant and get notifications when anything is flying overhead 👍 Also set it up for Gatwick too and to follow a certain flight in and out also.
@BeardedTinker2 жыл бұрын
That's also possible - this one enables you to be source of data for sites that track aircraft. But also, when you feed data to Flight Radar 24, you get free business account (around 400€ cost normally), which is great for enthusiasts

Got it running and it works great, but SDR gets quite hot during operation (can't measure it, but I estimate cca 60°C under the hood, 45°C on the housing). Is yours the same? And yeah, I have to trim the antenna to 1/4 wavelength for better ADS-B reception.

I'm going to implement this sometime this weekend, I think. I already have a couple of RTL devices to use, one of which has a pretty decent antenna that it came with.

It should work with any HA version that has AddOns. I've been playing with this now for few days and it works great. My range is unfortunately only around 20-25 miles, but managed to setup most of the connections and everything is running nicely.

I was planning to build a system to share data with FR24 and I was looking for the hardware but unfortunately finding a RPI 4 seems a hard word nowadays. Thank to you I just came to know that a Synology can be used for this purpose. I own a Synology NAS and now I need to understand how to install the VM with the Home Assistant OS in it and I need to buy the receiver. Thanks for sharing!

What model do you have? Vm work out of box on Plus models, but can be sideloaded on others. Unless you have J - unfortunately, it's not powerful enough for VM.

This was one of my main purposes of setting HA, for some reason this seems the most fun thing I've installed! However, I am still trying to figure out how to get proper information of the route being operated by each of the planes I see on FlightAware - I see the ident, squawk, altitude.... but if I want to see where that plane is coming from or where it is going, I need to click on flightradar24 and find it there... Any idea on how to get that information straight on the ADS-B Feeder addon? Thanks!

Unfortunately, I still haven't figured this one out. Mine is currently offline - had some issues with installed and moved it back home for testing (it was on remote site). Visualisation in UI has improved over the time, but route - I'm still missing it.
