Hi John, nice job making your own double crossing. Yes those N scale rail joiners are extremely fiddly! John
@SchuylkillRiverValley3 жыл бұрын
Thanks John! I'm sure I'm going to find a fair few more fiddly n scale details!

Double diamond solution turned out perfect as does all your modeling adventures. You just given people great new ideas. N SCALE is great isn't it. 🤣🤣🤣

Veeeeerrrryyyyy Interesting. This is a cool modification in any scale, but N scale is insane 😳. I hope all is great when you test it out and put it into service. Thanks for sharing my friend.....Wilmer
@SchuylkillRiverValley3 жыл бұрын
You know Wilmer, being N scale was only a little bit more fiddly than in HO. Overall, a pretty easy modification. I may have been overestimating the insanity of n scale (at least that's what I'm telling myself). Thanks for watching buddy!

This show you that you should not be afraid to mod manufactured pieces. You can shorten turnout at the ends as well. Nice video John.

Cooool! You can sell those online! Just watching you deal with N scale track confirms my decision to stick with HO :) Great job John.

First! Looks like you made a great mod there! If it doesn't work properly, we will have to blame the brand! :-) Atlas turnouts can be troublesome and I have heard that the crossovers are no exception. I look forward to see how this behaves on your layout! It looks great from here! Solid work and I'm sure many will benefit. I can imagine this will be used by many others. Great job. Keep em coming! Brian
@SchuylkillRiverValley3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brian! I'm hoping that the lack of moving parts means fewer problems than the turn-outs - time will tell! I hope someone can use this - it's an easy modification. Appreciate your support!

Very good video. I am glad I'm not the only one that cuts track and then realizes there is not enough room for rail joiners. I also hate when I put amark on something and can't find it when it is time to cut
@tanzj3 жыл бұрын
John, Good job making the crossing. There was an alternative to using commercial turnouts for the project - you could have done the entire project with hand laid track. It might be that Fasttracks has a couple of templates that could be combined to create the unusual crossing.......other John
@SchuylkillRiverValley3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Other John! I did consider hand-laying, in HO I would have. For a one-off, I didn't want to buy a jig so templates would have to suffice. If these prove as troublesome as Atlas turnouts, I'll be going that route.
@tanzj3 жыл бұрын
John, I used to hand lay N scale track with just paper templates many years ago which is why I made that suggestion. Have fun…..other John

Cool project John. Thanks for sharing. You didn’t mention much about the track spacing but I assume you took that into account.

Looks like it came out pretty decent, John. Part of why I like KATO track is the joiners are less painful/annoying.

Hi John, I have modified those crossings too by curving the track as it runs into and out of the 90° crossing but mine are in HO scale. Regards, David.
@wasunka2 жыл бұрын
If you can use/tolerate the built-in roadbed, Kato makes 33m spacing and Tomix makes 37mm spacing crossings. Tomix uses a smaller roadbed than the Kato. I'm usin both in my module bashing, along with Atlas pieces. Note to all: it's only plastic and metal - replaceable. Don't worry about ruining a piece - it's a small price for the learning experience.

Hey John I know how you feel. I to need something in N Scale not available, a double track Arched Through Truss Bridge. Atlas makes a single. As for the length of the joiners use a dremel and shave them down.. Good luck, Chris
