The weather has finally started to cool off down here.....we have been seeing very hot weather for this time of year, but last week saw the mercury fall to a reasonable level! So with that , I have decided to have a crack at the last bit of scenery on the layout, before it gets dismantled to move to Stirling.
Before work can commence, we need to move some trains and get the layout cleaned and ready for action, so the old ROCO track cleaning car is brought out to clean the hidden track sections. A manifest train is cleared off the main and some switching is needed in West Birdwood Yard.

I missed seeing the layout, can't wait for the next update. I did notice the tunnels, love the detail of the interiors. Hopefully some day you will have a video on the tunnels portals. You have a wonderful layout, your scenery is impressive. Great work Gregg, cheers from Terry in Nebraska.

Good stuff Gregg! I'm always cleaning my track, constant dust problem living not far from a major highway and industrial areas. Keen to see how the paper works out! Cheers, Stew.

Thanks Stew! I have the same issue , as I live next to a Freeway , so the tire dust is amazing , but the INOX helps a lot. I hope to have the first video on the scenery up next week . Cheers Gregg.

The slow speed performance you get out of those locomotives will never cease to be impressive Gregg. I dare say that if all the rolling stock were free rolling enough, you could film a perfectly realistic yard scene and no one would know it isn’t real!

Thank you Sir! I've actually had to increase the Tsunami 2 min speed , as its slower than the original Tsunamis ! It's all in the tuning and having good locos helps of course. Glad you enjoyed it. Gregg 🙂

Always great seeing the layout updates. You have done so much and it looks great. It didn’t look like the track was really dirty. Just need a going over. Cheers Gregg. Looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks as always Bob! I get some much road dust here from the freeway, the track may look clean but it can be very non conductive in places! Cheers Gregg.

My dear friend, you really need to take the Nettlefold crash course in shunt driving 101. You won't get those trains busted up and made up in a shift driving like treacle Tracey 😂

@FishplateFilms No no. No breakages, you got to get em Up and Rollin and stop to kiss the coupler then Rip it into it again Pullin the road and on with the train brake to bring you to a stop with a bogie length passed the points for the shunter to jump on the end and ride down the next road. Or Get them rolling quick bunch em up to cut off. Quick starts and quick stops and judgement for catching on. 😉

It has finally cooled down enough in my shed too. It has been a very long hot summer - average temp not outright extremes. Good to see some action on the Birdwood sub.

Hi my dear friend where have you been ? And how are you doing ? It is really good to see you on KZbin again. How is the new house coming along. I've been working on my wiring on the layout Fun. Again I hope you are doing well from Neil schwerdt in west valley city, Utah.😊

Hi Neil, I've been busy with work and my Airbnb is constantly booked , so that takes up time as well. Still working on moving the house build forward but it's a slow process. Wiring can be fun , but I play with it at work so it's not my favourite job on the layout...LOL. Have fun with yours as it's cool to see things work when your done. Thanks for watching sir! Gregg.🙂

Good one Gregg. I do have a question regarding your eventual move! Will your current set up be dismantled into sections for transport? Notice I did not say "modules". Its a topic that could do with some discussion for others who may find themselves in a similar situation. Cheers.
@FishplateFilms

Thank you Peter! The layout will be pulled down completely , with some of the leg sections staying assembled and the yard sections being used in a similar way , due to all the roadbed glued down. The new layout has larger curves, so I can't use the mainline road bed , but will try and use the corked sections of straight track. The only thing going in one piece is the Helix! That will be strengthened and sent as is with the track still on it. All the wood and ply will be used again and I hope to record the pull down process. Cheers Gregg.

Hi Gregg, your scenery skills have improved greatly! I really like the location at the 6 minute mark, that scene is very well done with that viewing angle . Keep up improving, I hope the transition to the new location goes smoothly. Do you plan on moving any areas intact or will this be a complete trash and rebuild? Cheers from Wisconsin, USA
@FishplateFilms
@FishplateFilms 2 ай бұрын
Hi Dave, thanks for the kind comments , and yes I also think I have improved a bit since the start? Some of the scenery I hope to keep together, but all the track work will be redone as I'm using broader curves on the new layout. I will reuse everything, but in a different plan but none will go to waste! Thanks for watching! Gregg.
