These interdisciplinary interviews are super interesting and would make for an amazing podcast. I could totally listen to longer versions of these on rides. Also getting to know the guest better outside of just their racing setup. How did they get into cycling, how long have they been competing, what are their plans etc etc. super interesting! Excited to hear more!

Super impressed with the handling that goes on when slipping to the back to get in the draft after a pull. That has to be the last 1% that a coach looks for that is impossible to teach. Kudos.

If I recall correctly off the top of my head, at team pursuit speeds in LA you’re pulling ~1.8Gs. So every 5 seconds your head gets twice as heavy and pumping that blood outta your legs gets a bit more challenging. Great interview and stoked to see DD hittin out in Denmark next week! The man can smash!

Ugh that sounds amazing. I live for g forces. I'm a roller coaster fiend. If I could go on an aerobatics ride, that would be a dream. That or a F18 ride. Man that had to be feel incredible in those turns.

To be honest, a 62-14 gearing isn‘t that big, it‘s a 4,43 ratio, wich means for every full crank turn the rear wheel turns 4,43 times, while if you compare a the 52-11 (4,73) of a standard shimano or a 48-10 (4,8) for sram. Mark cavendish road an insane 55-11 (5,5) in his last tour de france
@p0d0cyte3 ай бұрын
Cav wasn’t doing standing starts in that gear. He had access to 23 other gear ratios. Comparing apples and oranges.
@niklasschmid91233 ай бұрын
@@p0d0cyte not copmaring, I’m putting it in to perspektive. I‘ts even more impressive if you think that your normal roadbike has a bigger gearing, and the track guys hitting insane speeds

When talking about the sprint intervals, like split 4ks and such is very similar to swimming, You do broken efforts to simulate the entire race pace effort. For events that are longer you are still swimming for 2+ hours a day even though the longest race is 15 minutes in the pool.
@TimR1233 ай бұрын
Gotta love a video that seems too long and you plan to just sample but end up so interesting it’s a half hour later 😜. BTW, you should go over to Hellyer and give track a try. They can even rent you a track bike if you can deal with “conventional” gear for a ride 😏

I rode a lot of team pursuit on a state team back in the late 70s. Quite privative by today's standards. I often said that team pursuit is the hardest thing you can do on a bike... and the most fun! (But then other days I'd say it's Madison racing.)

60x14 is a little smaller than a 52x12. 62x14 is about the same as a 53x12. The trouble is getting that gear rolling up to speed. I don't know about you, but I'd need a running push, from someone, to get rolling.

Narrower is aero I don’t think anyone disputes that, but aero at the cost of rolling resistance and cornering performance is not faster in road cycling. Track on the other hand is different
