Track & Field by Konami on Arcade - 1983 - Full Playthrough - Retro Gaming

The early 1980's saw a lot of button bashers appearing in the arcades, and Track & Field was one I used to play a lot at my school's youth club. I take a hop, step and a jump down memory lane and do a lap of the complete arcade version of Track & Field.

I just Googled that. How did I not know about that one? I used to use a golf ball to play these kind of games on my old rubber keyed ZX Spectrum but didn’t know about the pencil thing!

@@ToughMonkey Yeah arcade hacks. One of the first competive sports game I ever remember playing. Hard to believe those buttons didn't wear out much quicker.

I was always handy, but not brilliant, at these types of games. Daley Thompson’s Decathlon and Super Test on the Speccy, along with Track & Field, Hyper Sports, Summer Games etc, plus Athlete Kings / Decathlete on the Saturn. They were always as equally fun as they were frustrating.

Absolutely loved Track and Field. I played it a lot at Skipsea when I was about 10 years old. I once completed the game 11 times on one 10p and I remember it brought a bit of an audience around me as I played it. IT’S THE ONLY TIME I FELT TRULY ALIVE. (I’m 49)

We had it at my secondary school’s youth club. Pool table, table tennis table, Track & Field arcade game, and the super geeks (me included) playing Top Trumps.
