Okay so I've watched this video in intervals. Usually every day while eating dinner. Unfortunately, I always finish my dinner in 5 minutes and then have to go work on other things. But I have finally finished watching this video, it only took me 2 months! Great video, lots and lots of very useful comments and content. I really like the track as well. Keep doing this stuff. Hi Alex! Hope you can answer this, have you noticed some sort of white noise-hiss with CineWinds after every note you play? It's been bothering me for some time now and I'd like to know if I'm the only one with this issue... (And if I'm not, how have you solved it? :o)
@AlexMoukala6 жыл бұрын
Hmm, problems like those can't be done much about, sadly. It's errors in the way the libraries were recorded and could only be fixed by the developers by re-recording them I guess. But you can reduce them with a bit of EQs or De-Essers.
@eds57096 жыл бұрын
I don't have specific issues with Cinewinds but like Alex wrote there are libraries that have errors. Last month I bought a Choir library which was "off-tune". Fortunately the manufacturer I contacted also noticed the error and send me a short 'manual' so I could correct it (in the software) myself. In your case it could also be you added multiple effects to the specific track causing interference between these effects. One way or the other, I hope you'll be able to solve it.
@IsaacValdivia6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I might try to add a low pass and maybe some gate to it. Thanks you guys!

This might be a question you're not really able to answer, but how do you come up with the chord progression for a track you're writing? I'm struggling with it a lot, sometimes it takes weeks for me to find a good chord progression. I'd not be able just to come up with something, I'm mostly just playing the piano till one day I find a chord progression which I love. Do you got any tips? Most people would say "look some chord progressions up on the internet" but for me that wouldn't be a certain feeling that I have, it would not really be something from my heart.
@ChrisSchmidtComposer6 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend not even going the "chord progression" route because it inherently requires you to use a set pattern. I'd recommend learning two, three, and four part harmony and counterpoint because then you can take any melodic line, and harmonize it in an infinite number of ways. Just what I found helps, though.
@DanzoSrife6 жыл бұрын
I started this course today, It answers a lot of our questions. It answers: How to create any chord progression easily from one simple diagram that has been used for centuries. The role of each chord, how to pivot to another chord smoothly and what chords connect well and what chords do not. How to change keys mid song etc. Pretty academic teaching as I did his melody course already. I got it for $10 search UDEMY for Music Composition 2 by Jonathan Peters. Sorry Utube doesn't allow copy and paste links.
@AlexMoukala6 жыл бұрын
I usually do it by ear, most times writing each individual voice with a bit of counterpoint in it like Chris said. Last year I made a tutorial where I show the process -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6DNpWCCp6uLisU Honestly, I'd recommend checking out a few videos or courses on Counterpoint like Wrathorn said, a series of free tutorials that opened my eyes back in the day was "The Art Of Counterpoint": kzbin.info/aero/PLD30417EED8560721

Hey Alex, this video was awesome but I've noticed something I've been looking for, when you have a MIDI out selected in the channel rack, you were able to edit kontakt without having it automatically select the kontakt instance in the channel rack, it does it for me and its a pain because I want to edit a sample instance but I have to constantly select the MIDI out in the channel rack to listen to the notes. How did you do this?

Alex i got a question. Im not sure how to explain it tho. I understand that we need to leave spaces for our instrument. The melody is played in the same octave while the counter melody, harmony, ostinato play in another octave. But can we like move 1 octave lower or higher for the melody? For example, the violin is playing the melody while i want the horn to play the melody too. But since the horn is 1 octave lower, it will crash with either with the ostinato notes or the counter melody. Another example that i have so much problem in it is the choir. When the ladies are singing the melody, i would also want the men to sing the melody too. But i m just afraid that the men singing the melody will clash with the counter melody or the chords in that case. So i just want to confirm whether we can do that or whether it will muddy the mix. Because i see your cello and you put it with your chords and ostinato or maybe i see wrongly here. Just want to double confirm :D I also understand that you could mix your ostinato with either your counter melody or melody since it is play in staccato but i m just confuse here whether we can mix it or not?
@showdown26136 жыл бұрын
Oh and i want to ask whether in trailer music, can we play the choir in chords. Not talking about like 4 chords or 3. I m talking about 8 to 9 to make it more powerful. Because when you play with 8 chords it is not realistic since there are many singers. But i just want to ask whether we can do it for trailer music or not? :)
