I am glad you mentioned that it is disappointing on Renault Megane Trophy 300 EDC compared to Honda Type R on the track.

One can clearly seen that Reanult SA are notl handing out any freebie cars to the journalists to get good reviews 😉 😂

Worst thing Renault did was go 1800cc and 4 wheel steering...no wonder it was removed on Trophy-R...it's a pitty that this is the last of the renault sport.

Trophy-R was purpose built for the Nurburgring which is a fast track, the 4 wheel steering doesn't benefit cornering past 100KM/h. So for this use case it would just be dead weight. Even if 4 wheel steering was added to Trophy-R it would still be 90kg lighter than the regular Trophy. If we gave this much weight reduction on the regular Trophy and improved diffuser, it would likely be putting out very similar times to the the Trophy-R on tight tracks or maybe better? We will never know.

@barrywilliams9698 I am not sure about that, having owned a megane 4rs cup....from what I understand the 4 wheel control works in opposite direction below 60kmh and when in race mode and you go over 100kmh the wheels turn in the same direction...the megane handles well but it feels like it's too on edge and not realistic. Nevertheless renault sports are amazing cars.

@@van_der_lindeDA Yes over 100KM it turns in the same direction for stability but it is not enough benefit for the added weight. If Nurburgring was a tighter track with more cornering under 100KM it would be a different story. I read a comment by one of the RS engineers that worked on Trophy-R that weight reduction was their top priority, which is why they went with manual gear box. That was the only reason they didn't make an EDC version.
