The game in its current state has been in development for ~2 months. 90 days to pre-alpha preview? x-mas release? Where's my doubt button? 😂😅 I love the idea of new games, I love to check out new games. I like the overall idea of what the dev's want from this game but I just don't really believe the time table or way they are going about it is feasible, hopefully something clicks and there is a real eye opener moment for them and things get figured out. Also I really hope its not a scam.

​@@TWSgame Guys, first and foremost: _GAME DESIGN._ I cannot stress how often 'serious' game developers forget about it. Some straight out confuse game mechanics with game design (yes I'm pointing at Yudintsev @ Gaijin). If you ignore it, your game come out as a toy, much like how DCS is -- and it'll be a hell of a job to change that (see how ED struggles). If you neglect it, your game will be dull and uninteresting. And vice versa, e.g. Falcon 4 has provided 'structured rogue-like' experience -- and it lives on even 20 years after developer studio and publisher have died off. One other common pitfall -- eyecandy. ED is struck with 'photorealism' and overloads memory with gigabytes of useless textures despite after a bit these become nothing more than information markers for our brain. The result? Only 'select few' can even launch their game -- even without considering how many of those actually _do_ want to launch it. And lowering cockpit resolution makes it look like sh!te, all blurry and unreadable. Plus, don't even get me started at their helicopter rotor blades flickering, especially their shadows. Unrealistic as hell, imitating bad camera. Also, camera shake. The result? Obvious photo mode obviously forced on bad grounds, looking stellar in static or pre-selected perspectives (best rendered on server-grade computer to avoid stuttering and FPS drops), but looking crappy and devastating gameplay on real PCs. Obviously, there are much more of those pitfalls which ended dozens of widely known projects (and hundreds more less known ones). Be wary and tread lightly. Good luck.

After listening to the beginning of the Q&A video, it seems like main developer is just starting to learn Unreal Engine and is currently at the "Peak of Mt. Stupid" phase of the Dunning-Kruger Effect. I say this because I was there with Unreal Engine as well, so I know exactly what that's like.

Sounds ambitious...too ambitious... DCS already has quite a bit of development where a team dedicated towards pushing out full fidelity modules rolls them out in a step wise fashion of bare features to full features that is years in the making for a single aircraft. and this is just merely dedication towards air combat with casual interest in land/sea assets (combined arms). Trying to strive for that same aircraft fidelity plus a ground warfare simulator (Arma) is a grand, lofty goal; it maybe too much for a small studio.

Already hating this. Looked at their site. 3 "Exclusive skins"... In a sim? Oookay. What was worse about them. They were the same model with minimal reskin. A "1993 Delta" to revive Black Hawk Down? @@TWSgame Really? It looks like a chinese toy version of an F-16. The missiles are bad, the droptanks looks silly, the pylons are too short. The back spine, its shallow. The markings for the AAR door are too big. And then the Cockpit... dear god... How bad is it. Its completely wrong from its proportions relative to the size of the pilot and the machine and in its shape...

I feel like this is going to get delayed, I don't see any way that it can be fully realized in such a short time. F2P model also seems very strange to me. I would absolutely love this as a warthunder replacement IF it is actually what they are claiming, but I highly highly doubt it. Be a large scale war sandbox like Arma but with more refined vehicles, something between Arma and DCS. What people want is large scale combat like squad/arma with a refined combined arms experience.

I'm not even sure what the audience would be. Study simmers won't touch a forced, game-ified ecosystem like the "points" system with a 10ft pole given that sims are pretty much obligate sandboxes, and the more casual audience that wouldn't mind isn't going to have the tolerance for an even Arma-level game let alone even an FC3-level sim lite, let alone a real study-sim. Not to mention that infantry and aircraft don't even operate in the same regime, so the only way to have them play together is usually in a heavily contrived scenario specifically set up for it, usually requiring all players to be cooperative (rather than have a War Thunder-style competitive game). Otherwise you'll have a 1km^2 infantry battle taking place somewhere with jets flying past at angels 30 on their way to a literal different country. Even if you specifically tasked the jets with doing CAS around/against the infantry players, the target area will be so obviously confined that the players will be sitting ducks with more or less no recourse against the jets, unless the ground players are willing to play a SAM crew and sit around for 45 minutes playing the odds of either taking a HARM out of nowhere, or eventually getting a chance to fire on an enemy jet (assuming they're situated in the part of the country that the sortie happens to fly over).

This sounds very scam-like. That being said, I can appreciate the size and scope of it - and I do think it's cool - but I'm just not seeing how they can pull off such an ambitious and aggressive statement and timeline. With a "Free-to-Play" model, I can foresee them maybe doing a "base model" of older/early-model aircraft (like an early F-16A, for example) using a modular "clicky-cockpit" system shared by all airframes - ergo every aircraft uses more or less the same system just minor tweaks here and there to suit the specific aircraft (such as removing an INS/GPS capability on jets that don't have that particular capability, for example). The "buy ins" would have to be more advanced variants of base model aircraft (e.g. F-16C Block 30, Block 50, Block-52+) - and you certainly wouldn't give those up for free. They'd have to be using Wikipedia for their source material on almost every asset - F-22 and F-35 "study level" sim? Maybe in 2170 when the F-22 has been removed from the USAF inventory for a century and every country in the world is using fusion-powered anti-gravity drives on their space fighters... There is no damn way they can claim to have *A* "study level" aircraft after 2 months (or even 2 years, really) in development with a "pre-Alpha" in 3 months time and an EA release (if they're claiming 'full release', they're full of shit) by year's end.

Is it an amazing initial premise? Yeah, absolutely. Does it worry me a bit that there is no initial plan to go with that premise? Definitely. Am I going to call it a scam? Nah. Not enough evidence to substantiate that claim. Let's see how things go over the next couple of months. Would I put any money into it? Not until I see something far more substantial. Gameplay, AI, a roadmap, a beta or alpha. All I have to say is be cautious and do some digging before dropping money. As for the game idea itself. It's ambitious, and I hope they can actually pull it off. Rethinking the timeframe would be a good start though. Fully fledged development studios with decades of combined experience across all facets of gaming wouldn't be able to make it. If they do? Sweet! If not? It was worth a shot I guess.

I make this comment as an anonymous ex-member of the war server (people producing the game). During the many months of knowing the members of the war server i found many to be childish and lacking any knowledge or skill in creating or developing anything. The game itself is only a concept and idea. I have seen development that they have completed in the unity engine and the entirety of development is simple modeling and non functioning projectiles. The promised aircraft and vehicles of this game are highly classified and will not be simulation or even arcade quality. I truly believe this game deserves a different name "Track while Scam"

@@Jabbers i assure you the last i saw before cutting ties with the community was a lack of working vehicles, a lack of aircraft and a lack of general movement mechanics. The only terrain mapping ive seen looks like a basic testing range. The idea of a full world modeling is obscene, not even microsoft got it to look good with msfs and they have almost unlimited budget and they worked on the game with a full dev team for many years

Plus they say world scale which is just stupid what tech would you they need for that for full world rendering with real cities etc , the amount of organisation you need for world wide scale war would be incredible plus severs if multiplayer.

We already have the world terrain built. There's a lot more to it than that, but we're working away building. Servers are likely going to be enterprise hosting solutions.

8:58 PM 6/8/2022 I dont play Arma anymore but will jump into IL2 Sturmovik here and there. I was wondering if the game devs heard me talking out loud about this. I like IL2 Sturmoviks career mode. They have a tank DLC thats part of the game like War Thunder I think. I dont play War Thunder anymore cus its that bad with all cheating. I said it would be cool to run around in IL2 Sturmovik on the ground while the air battles from IL2 Sturmovik were happening kind of like Arma and you can pick where at on eastern front you want to start with the divisions being supported by the fighter groups in the air those that fly (theres an air campaign going on those who are flying while everyone on the ground is playing capture flag in some big city). Thats what this game is? Try and get VR in it. I would rather use VR headset than track IR while flying. I will even go infantry like that too.

Last I checked, having VDV/ex-VDV was a matter of pride for the TWS staff. If the rumors are true, it would give ED a leg up on that particular score- you should speak with a little more respect. But then, every new TWS screen and leak reminds me of a spaghetti western: "The Game With No Internally Created Assets"

5:50 Track While Scam... ? :) I'll watch this, but from a safe standoff distance. I mean, they're very ambitious, but how will they be able to deliver something that even remotely could match DCS and ArmA with both projects having decades of work into them and possibly even WT which is around for 'boutta decade as well already? You just don't throw some assets in there, you need hundreds, if not thousands of millions of lines of code - that work. (Il-2 pre-FB already had over 3 million lines in 2001, just to throw a totally random and unrelated number)
