新山栄子（Niiyama Eiko) , Niiyama Shiho' mom, wrote an essay in her memorial book"Seiyuu Niiyama Shiho"
In junior high school, Shiho had a crush on her teacher, which was well known among her friends and in the teachers. Her love was so bright that her friends said, "What's so great about a teacher like that?" But Shiho smiled at them and said, "Don't mind me." I guess that's when it all started. From the parents' point of view, this kid would be horrible if she fell in love in the future. She was silent, didn't say a word, and was so absorbed in her feelings that ahe was completely oblivious to the rest of the world. Granted, this is the norm for people in love, but I smelled danger in it.
When she was a sophomore in university, Shiho said to me out of the blue, "Mum and Dad I have something to tell you." Looking at her serious expression, "Is she planning to get married?" Her father and I whispered. Shiho spoke up and said, "I want to be a voice actress." We had been wondering when her boyfriends would show up, and we were spoiled when we heard that. In front of the dumbfounded us, Shiho calmly stated his plan to step into the fantastic world of voice acting.
My uneasiness spreads ...... Show business, a despicable world full of jealousy, pulling each other's strings, vanity, and the desire to excel at the expense of disappointing others. I asked her, "How are you going to get a job then?" She replied to herself "Promote yourself whenever you can". That's ridiculous. It's not in Shiho's character. She could not do that. No, rather, I did not want her to do it. This timid child was bound to get hurt. I wanted her to dispel that idea before she gets hurt.
"Just give me a year! I'll try my hardest, and even if nothing comes of it, I'll be able to live with the fact that I've worked hard." Shiho said to us as she got up. Her dad said "I thought you'd be a kid forever, but I didn't realise you'd grown up." Later I approached her friends who worked with her to dispel my prejudices. "What do you think is the most important thing you need to be an voice actress?" "Friends, I have very many of them." Shiho said.
Niiyama Shiho was so well liked that many of her friends who worked with her wrote a memorial in her memorial book"Seiyuu Niiyama Shiho", and her character was evident. What a blessing it was to be friends with Shiho , who was as cheerful as the sun. I always say that if you know Niiyama Shiho , you'll realise that Seiya Kou and Shiho Niiyama are very much alike, and that the character is almost as if it was tailor-made for Niiyama. I really like the 90's American war anime version of Hoshino Kou.
