Hi Jen, This vlog made a lovely change from hopping on and off trains, it was a pity you weren't able to pin-point exactly where the tramway was, but there were plenty of bricks about...you did seem to be heading away from where it was but you did find plenty of water though. Were any of your family sea-farers by any chance? Take care and see you next time, but most of all stay safe. Cheers, Jon B. x

Imagine having an abandoned tramway back in service. That would be nice to see how the tramway was like back in the good old days.

This was such a lovely video. That forest was gorgeous and I love how excited you got about all the little bits and bobs of history, even if you weren't exactly sure what they all were. I do the same. It's still exciting to see and explore and come across stuff like that, even without all of the context. This was a fun little explore. Also, now you've got me thinking and I wonder when the last dam built in the US was either. Now it feels like the only significant public works projects here are roads (yick).

Glad you enjoyed Entwistle so much. For a minute there I thought you were going to get sucked into some sort of twilight zone episode where there's always a reason to just miss one more train ... glad you made it out in the end to continue the journey 😄

Thank you, Jen. I grew up in Blackburn, worked for a few years in Darwen, had lots of walks around those reservoirs. After being away for years, I was shocked to find the line singled and Entwistle station reduced to what it is. You recalled some nice memories.

Hey Jen, I want to tell you that I tried to emulate you regarding visiting all the Overground stations from Gospel Oak to Stratford. And I didn't make it further than Camden Road because from there I decided to follow the canal to the Regent's Park. I appreciate your videos even more because regardless of being passionate about trains and public transport, making such videos is still hard work. Especially when the moment you take out a camera at a station, a security announcement is played over loudspeakers. Or if the weather is hot or hottish as in my case. So once more thank you for hard work which involves making great videos like yours. I hope I haven't been too long-winded .

7:34 is that a Half as Interesting reference? Regardless, this was a great video, Entwistle reservoir is a really nice place to visit 😄. I like these slower paced videos more where it's exploring a nice place in more detail than just ticking off a load of station.

The station at Entwhistle has been a request stop for some time, However not so long ago trains would only stop on request every 3 hours. I could never figure that out! As Jen appeared to discover there's a nice pub by Entwhistle station if you've done with walking and/or missed your train!

Probably depends what you mean by new dams. The Ben Cruachan power station dam was built in the '60s. It's for hydro electric scheme. The dam in Pitlochry was built in the '50s. It has a power station built in and a fish ladder.

The Claerwen Dam outside Rhyader was completed in 1952. Like the other dams in the Elan Valley, it supplies water to Birmingham.

A while ago, you did a piece of LNER's 'simplified' fares trial. It's reassuring that MD David Horne speaking in the industry mouthpiece Modern Railways claims the trial has been 'positive'. So reassuring or such rubbish? Discuss!
@JenOnTheMove2 ай бұрын
David Horne has no intention of improving our railways, he's firmly in the camp of extracting as much money as possible out of them to ensure he and his counterparts continue to get paid ridiculous amounts while the real staff on the ground are dealing with a cost of living crisis and fighting to get paid what they're worth.
