This is the series that led to me filming the "KZbin is breaking me" video... I am doing _so much better_ now, we're even further into the future - 6 weeks. I'm bringing forward a video that I filmed yesterday to release next week to show how much I've come on... watch this space!

Great video Jen, I can relate to being 'p***ed off' with myself as there days when making videos you and it doesn't go the way, I remember being at Banstead on the Epsom Downs branch line and I thought, I go back there for 30 minutes but turns out once the train left Banstead the next train wasn't for a hour and was p***ed with myself and sat down and thought why thought f**k it I don't want to do this KZbin anymore but just composed myself but honestly making KZbin videos is hard work and not as easy as it looks, the planning, the research, filming, editing, planning a back-up plan quickly in case things don't go to plan like a train cancellation or a train being delayed. Looking forward to the rest of the series and sorry to hear that you were struggling Jen to the point that it broke you :(

I lived in Orpington years ago. This was my station to commute to London, even to grammar school at Camberwell, before commuting to work at London Bridge. I was a volunteer in the 60s helping out, trying to get the Westerham Valley Railway going, alas to no avail in the end. Thanks for that video Jen, and keep up the healthy regime!

Knowing when you've reached your limits and having the strength to admit - and then do something about it, is a really strong and powerful characteristic, dear Jen. Yeah, so it took you a little while to work out what you were going to do - but that's okay! And yours just redefines blue rinses in all our minds, for sure! So you've done a good thing - every cloud has its silver lining and all that stuff, yeah?!! If people didn't like your videos, they'd not watch them; the fact that people are still watching and supporting what you do tells you they still enjoy them and virtually, they enjoy your company... So please, you just do what's right for you, as you go forward!

Orpington is my local station - which I agree is not the most edifying, particularly in the rush hour. As, for Dunton Green: the Westerham branch closed to passengers in 1961 and I remember once travelling on the line with my parents sometime in the 1950's. The last train from Westerham to Dunton Green, was I believe around 19.23, taking around 10 mins for the 4.5 miles. Today, the last bus from Westerham to Sevenoaks, the nearest large town, is, believe it or not, at 16.28! That's progress!

Re that odd Blackfriars station: Jago Hazzard made a rather informative video on that a few years back, also Geoff did one revolving around (the actual) Blackfriars station and Thameslink also mentioning this odd Blackfriars station, if I remember correctly. And AJ Omega also did a video on the Thameslink stations in London, not sure though he mentioned the odd Blackfriars station. (I have a playlist with several videos on that, however I have three versions of that, so I can't actually share it, sadly....)

I used to work at Waterloo East on the gateline and both SE and LU staff called it no mans land. One member on LU told me the reason for the strange set up there was when Southwark was opened, there was going to be a street level entrance there but the local residents managed to get it blocked. I was told when that restriction ends and will need to be fought again but I cannot remember now

Elmstead Woods is quite a nice small station that you can see trains coming in and out of the tunnels. And Southeastern are soon to replace the Class 465 and Class 466 Networkers with new trains but they should keep some for the Bromley North branch line.

There was a nasty little fire onboard - I think, I could be wrong - one of the last 4-SUB's in the early 80's. A complete twonk left a smouldering butt end at their seat and it set it on fire. Although everyone was safe - the evacuation was top-notch - the carriage was really badly damaged. And to tie it in with your vid, Jen, it happened at Waterloo East.

On your map, you have indicated some station names in a bigger font size (talking esp. about those ALONG the line), hence them being highlighted. Is that being the terminal stations? Or is that the stations being served by (semi-)fast trains? Or would both be the same actually? (If you can answer that.)

4:27 It's nice that London Bridge now has lifts as well as escalators. And that the lifts are labelled with the numbers of the platforms they serve. Is this also true of the escalators? Last time I was there, the escalators were not numbered, so you didn't know which platform an escalator served unless you went up it!

The mahoota station, London Bridge, completely rebuilt!! BADLY. No toilets inside the barriers, the gap between the train and the Platform is vast despite being newly rebuilt. Plenty of shops inside and outside the barriers so you can shop til you drop while waiting for your cancelled train, no seats so you have to occupy yourself you can shop. London Bridge is not a train station it is a shopping mall 😢

@JenOnTheMove4 ай бұрын

@jacksebsmith4 ай бұрын
People use Waterloo East to Charing Cross all the time. Charing Cross serves the West-End and Waterloo doesn't so provides an important connection from those travelling in from the South West who are going to the West-End. It's also free to use with your ticket to Waterloo where as using the tube to make the same journey you would have to pay.
@CJonestheSteam724 ай бұрын
What ticket did you manage to pick up that allowed you to do the back and forth between stations?
@fussyboy20004 ай бұрын
Probably an all-Zones travelcard. Or just tapping in and out contactless and relying on the daily cap to bite. There's a 3-day Kent Rover available.
@JenOnTheMove4 ай бұрын
Contactless cap within zones, plus a boundary ticket for the couple of stations outside of it. Hopped onto a Kent Rover for the next day, but my trip was unexpectedly cut short so I only got one days use out of it, annoyingly!

Neither - it is a corruption of the original street name of "Candlewick Street" where candle makers were the predominate industry. The name Cannon Street is recorded in the late 1600's by Samuel Pepys so the name change happened some time before that.
