Hunting community is so wrapped up in only shooting huge bucks . I dragged a spike this year 1.3 miles and it was awesome .

ANY buck taken in fair chase that the hunter is happy with and proud of is a trophy. They all have good meat and stories to match no matter how big the rack is.

Fine little 6 point! The young ones taste better anyway!!! And you did your part helping to control the coyote population.

Sad state of affairs when a “Mess Up” is a dead buck that’s not giant. 7 1/2miles in that beautiful terrain and some good venison on the ground should be more then enough to make a hunter happy. Just sad it’s gotten to this point. I long for the days of no trail cams and not naming bucks or putting a target designation on a deer. Made that was a target deer, maybe it was old and not as good genetically rack wise as some. Maybe it was wounded that’s why you were able to catch him. Maybe you used your superior skills to kill a buck and it’s just that you punched a tag and had a great hunt. Gotta change the way we think as hunters.

Nice to finally see a deer video with you in it Ross! I was getting kind of concerned. Ha ha Dont feel bad in 2022 I wanted to fill my doe tag before shooting a buck, and shot a small spike horn thinking it was a doe! You know what they say, shit happens! Like you said, it’s always nice to have deer meat in the freezer. Congrats! Mike from Maine

In that thick forest you can’t expect to see your exact target unless he’s standing still in an opening
